50% Printing capacity Spin?

Apparently, some remark was made at a District Convention that the Society's new facility is only running at 50% capacity.

It was hinted that this is because some great increase is being prepared for. Now, I know , from talking to a Bethel elder of long

standing that the Society's massive downsizing of printing in Brooklyn involved sending off equipment to other countries , as well

as being a response to the marked decline in literature distribution in recent years. So, this 50% capacity remark may actually

reflect hopefulness about a deepening problem rather than suggested Divine Preparation.

I also note a remark by a Bethelite that the Society's new printing facility was completely paid for by the recent sale of real

estate in Brooklyn. The first thing that jumped to mind was what happened to the contributions that the Kingdom Ministry

requested? Weren't they enough to cover the cost?

I think this interpretive 'spinning' is becoming pervasive in the organization. Every defeat or decline is somehow transformed

into a glorious victory, rather like tractor production in North Korea or Baghdad Bob describing Iraqi triumphs that never happened.

You have to feel sorry for these people, who've sacrificed their lives, their childbearing and their retirement security

for the organization. It's all going to fade to black and they won't even know it until they're shown the door.

lmao! It's as if they build a shiny new factory to build cars that they knew no one wants to buy.

Look at all of the wonderful production we have going on!

Would anyone please like to buy a car?

    NOT

If they are printing in other countries, do you think there will be differences in the wt from the US and other countries? Wouldn't it make it easier to have changing doctrines or even slight differences? carla

I never thought of this, but that's exactly right. From 1914, to 1975, to "this generation", every failure is turned into a huge lie-laden success story.

Looking at Metatron’s thoughts, one thought that comes to mind is: why bother?

By that I mean, if demand is in decline and as a consequence equipment is being sent off to other areas, why buy new equipment? If "downsizing" is in progress, who needs a new installation?

There is a simple answer: once you build a non-profit "engine", any revenue in must be matched by capital expenditures going out.

The WTS squirrel cage treadmill will probably be taking delivery of a press while the building is being auctioned off, one of these days.

With all that spare capacity, do you think they would notice if we slipped new Tracts by Leolaia through the presses?.

I think it's fair to say that they realized they needed to take some action - with contributions declining and a need to reduce

costs by downsizing headcount. So, they upgraded to the new presses.

Added to that, I think their conversion to paperback Bibles is a tactical error. Perhaps no one there remembers the mistake

they made in printing bright green Bibles years ago. Religion involves fixations, be they crosses or rosaries or traditions

or rituals. Some people are deeply skeptical of any Bible without a dark leather like cover.
