They also conveniently omit the account of Jacob's wedding to Rachel... or at least that's who he thought he was marrying... but Rachel's father, not wanting to see Rachel's older sister humiliated by getting married before the older girl, swapped brides, and Leah showed up, wearing heavy veils to cover her face.
And yet, Jehovah seems to have approved the practice, because Leah's sons had the tribes of Israel named after them....
I wonder where they draw the line on choosing whats ok and whats pagan. It doesnt make sense really

Well, maybe you shouldn't wear a wedding ring either because that might have some lore attached to it as well.
What's wrong with cutting the cake together? Really?
I already saw the article about wedding rings, they are optional.
throwing rice is a big no-no too
One that gets me is their 'turning of their heads' on some 'celebrations' - and yet on others, they're a definite no-no.
I seem to remember a 50th wedding anniversary being celebrated... the JW family got together, rented a big banquet hall, hired a live band, had cake, dancing, etc.
It was attended by many elders - and many had fun.
Yet... JWs do not celebrate birthdays. Go figure.

Horriblelife, I can understand that sentiment exactly......I get light headed at the thought of the GB in NY also! They twist things so uch...it seems they want to take the joy out of everything.
