I never understood that either Jim it does my head in, Ive always said if the bible recorded a death at a wedding would that mean we shouldnt get married!. Whats the difference between celebrating ones day of birth and ones day of marriage\anniversary???
I never knew about the wedding veil, I did know about the rings, and the windchimes.....the gazing ball thing, was supposedly so the witches would see themselves and fly off before disturbing the gardens...how many JW's I know have windchimes????!!!! Plenty. Seems to me, that they burden the people with their silly rules, and ideas of what is pagan and what's not. It boils down to "do as I say, not as I do", in some cases. I was told I could have wind chimes, but if it was going to stumble someone, i'd have to get rid of it. I don't think so.....I've chimes in the front and back yards.
Es, good luck with your wedding, and I can't wait to see the pics. I've been to many JW weddings, where the bride had her new hubby remove her garter...(.have to admit, the first one surprised me)....but who cares? It's tradition....have a ball.
