When I was "in", the bad fortune of those who'd left was expected - 'Of course they're having problems: Satan's got them 'round the neck and we all know that no one who leaves is ever better off.'

If, on the other hand, the person was doing well, it was because they were worldly and materialistic and part of the "system". The world, after all, 'loves its own.'

I can't believe how nasty I was as a JW.

So I always come back

Yeah they love that crap. Every single - EVERY SINGLE person who I've ever known to DA while I was still in the dubs got bashed by JW afterwards. I would wait for it, sit there and listen to their mean bullshit bashing sessions. These people are not well adjusted human beings.

I knew a fine brother. He was a friend. He was struck with a terrible illness that will eventually take his life.

He got a 'Bad attitude'. Who wouldn't? But the elders just couldn't get enough of bashing him during that period of time. I finally could not stand that smug hatefulness and made a veiled [but obvious to those in the know] comment right in the Wt study about bashing the brothers and slandering them while in the car-groups, ect.

Result? I was rebuked by the leading Pharisee right after the Wt study. I asked him when I could pick up notes for the next study so that I would not get 'off script' by thinking and speaking the truth. In retrospect, this was one of the defining moments in the start to see the 'truth' for what it really was.
