More information on the December 1 article. Non-witnesses are referred to as "pests". Here's some advice I posted on another thread.

    1. Before the article comes out, have a general conversation about human rights abuses in the world, bigotry, etc. Establish a general concept of what bigotry is. Don't associate the JW's just yet.

    2. Talk heart-to-heart with your beloved on how their involvement with the JW's affects your life. Be as sincere and human as you can be. Talk about the time away, your devotion to them as a person and the features you find most attractive in them. Finally, hit them with how the bigoted talk affects you personally. You can ask questions like, "If you are looking forward to Armageddon, does that you also look forward to me dying?" or "When elder XX talked about people in the world being so wicked, was he talking about people like me? Do you think I am wicked?" or "You just came home with another problem at the hall. Explain again how those of us in the "world" are so much worse?" Repeat that those phrases and comments hurt you personally.

Hi Jgnat (I can't believe I'm actually able to post!)
    thanks for keeping this going.

    remember the scummy dross comment?

I did a little prep, then asked if after reading comments like that week after week, month after month,
does he think those things about people like me, the kids, my parents etc?
The answer i ultimately got was....
"if it upsets you - DON'T READ IT!"

Whenever I ask for an issue he says - no way I just want to use it to point out stuff like "rid you house of pests"!
when I mention how much it hurts to think he reads & agrees .....
well, you know the rest - he's usually already left the room by then.

fingers crosssed while I hit submit......
