A friend of mine is having his first photo exhibit this month .... I asked another friend to attend the 'opening' with me on Thursday nite ... is this a 'date'?

Erm, in a way it's date whatever, but if you want to know whether it's a date, I would guess that would depend on your relationship with the friend and whether there has been a hint of attraction or not.

Oy, so I am 'done for'. They didn't have 'young people ask' when I was growing up, so I'm a bit lost on the whole subject.

Yah, that's what I was thinking. And yes, there have been 'some' indications of attraction. He left a msg on my fone the other nite, and finished by saying "oh, btw, what are you wearing?" (lol!)

I think people describe themselves as "crazy, zany, a bit mad" etc. because they don't want to be seen as boring, but as unique individuals who don't quite fit in with the faceless homogenous crowd.
Of course, I don't believe them for a second.
The people who really march to the beat of a different drum don't need to tell you they're wacky. Their self-description will include things like "likes to bungee-jump naked" or "has irrational fear of cornflakes".
For the same reason avoid anyone who says they have "a great sense of humour". Unless their profile makes you squirt milk out of your nose, they probably don't. In general, anyone who can't say anything interesting in their profile probably won't be any different on a date.
The "crazy" ones are allways the best in the sack!
