See if there are any grocery stores near you that offer home delivery. I used to use a service like that all the time when I didn't have regular transportation and had a couple of little ones in tow. You might be able to get the fee waived, considering your circumstances.

I just heard Loblaws is pulling their online shopping service.

I will try Hartman's on Bank St. They have some transportation service. I will find out if they can help

Just get yourself a big CO2 fire extinguisher, point it in the direction opposite you want to go, pull the lever and WOOOOOOOOOOSH!!!! You can put a bumper sticker on the wheel chair that says: Rocket Momma

((( LadyLee ))) I wish I were there to help. I really sympathise.

If you are in a senior apt complex, do they have a regular bus for grocery shopping? Some senior centers have this convenience. Maybe as you get to know people, you can give them your shopping list, just in the interim until you're mobile again.

    Good luck and lotsa love

Hmm, or you could just eat a few cans of beans for the same effect. Sorry I live 1500 km away or I'd be there to help in a heartbeat!

    Lady Lee-

Are there any hospices there? I know here that sometimes patient's families donate alot of equipment back to them after their loved one passes away. They may be able to help, or maybe at least have something you could borrow until you get one.

If you call and talk to a local medical supply store, they may be able to put brakes on yours, free, if you explain your circumstances.

I wish I were close enough to run your errands for you!!!!

Not sure if this is available in your area, but where I live there's at least one grocery store that will deliver your groceries to you. You just get on their website, order what you want, and they get it together and send it to your house in a van.

I gather from something someone else said that you live in Canada, I live in the US but Canada has healthcare, so maybe they have something similar; around here there are always commercials on tv for various wheelchair type gadgets (like 'The Rascal', 'Jazzy Chair', etc.). In the commercials, they say that they will assist with paperwork with the government to get you the device for "little to no cost to you".
