Anything in the Star Trek franchise, except Enterprise, is a must see for me.
We also loved Farscape on the SciFi Channel.

Anyone remember the old british series called UFO? I loved that show and just bought the entire series on dvd.
Wow I'm surprised how many Asimov readers there are.
I have read the foundation series several times and am looking for new copies so I can read it again.
I read the first Dune book and loved it but could never get into the second one.
As for the movies Yes I will admit I am a trekkie fan. I have all the moveis and love all of the series except the new enterprise one. I just can't get into it.
I'm OK with Farscape
Loved Star Wars
Just watched Starman again
And I get more out of Solaris each time I watch it.
Hmmm think I might have a Star Trek Marathon this weekend since going out is way too much work
Jack Vance Dying Earth series books
Blade Runner
Dark Star
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
Whoever said the Wrath of Khan,, YES! It is one of my favorite movies.
Also, how could I forget ... SPACEBALLS ,,,
"I am a mog - half-man, half-dog. I'm my own best friend!"
(my favorite John Candy moment)
The original Star Wars and ET ( the first movie I saw in the theatre as a kid )

Most of my favorites have already been mentioned...Asimov...the Dune series, Clarke has some excellent works(Childhood's End, 2001), some not so great(Rama, 3001). I also enjoyed Julian May's Pliocene/Galactic Milieu series.
No one has mentioned David Brin, the Uplift series is awesome. Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle... Another newer writer is Peter Hamilton, look for his Reality Dysfunction/Neutronium Alchemist/Naked God series(not sure what the correct name for the whole series is). I also recently started reading Stephen Baxter, a great hard SF writer in the Clarke tradition.
Movies: Wrath of Khan never gets old, original SW trilogy. anyone remember Silent Running?
Television series Star Trek(of course) TOS, TNG, DS9. I watched Voyager and Enterprise more out of Pavlovian response to the Trek name than anything else. Babylon 5 was entertaining, sometimes incredible, sometimes dreadful. Stargate SG-1 is entertaining in a guilty pleasure kind of way, starting to get a little past its sell date, although Ben Browder is at least some fresh blood. The new Battlestar Galactica is one of the best SF shows ever: no time travel, no transporters, no holodecks, no technobabble. 3-dimensional characters. I expect it to be cancelled at any moment.
No Apologies
ET ( the first movie I saw in the theatre as a kid )
the 2nd movie for me...my first was Annie:) I havent been much into sci-fi since ET. oh and that movie tron...anyone remember that one? lol, i was sitting here trying to remember the name forever. this kid gets sucked into a computer and has to fight his way out. i need to catch up w. the times. joelbear, the sci-fi museum didnt inspire me like it should have:-]
I'm a HUGE Heinlein fan. Job: A Comedy of Justice is probably one of my favorites of all time...as well as Stranger in a Strange Land and To Sail Beyond the Sunset.
I also like Harry Turtledove's alternate history stuff and some Piers Anthony. I loved Enders Game.
As far as movies...well, where to begin....
The Matrix Trilogy, Outworld, the BattleStar Gallactica series...old and new....I even like the old Buck Rogers series.

PS...my wife is a bigger sci-fi fan than me. She just bought a new set of the Robot Trilogy and the Foundation series
She writes sci-fi short stories in her spare time.
