xjwms I stayed at the Westin Galleria last weekend. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever been in. And you walk out the elevator into the mall !!!! HEAVEN!!!

Special K: 100 buses ready? You mean the mayor is taking charge of the situation? Getting ready?

I just keep thinking of the picture of all of those yellow submerged school buses, when I hear the death toll go up and up. I blame the mayor of NO. Those were his people. My husband was once mayor of our small town. We are still his people. Take Charge !! If the worst doesn't happen, ok, maybe a few will gripe about not being home to watch their favorite show on TV. But they will be alive. He should have sent those buses up and down every street.

sorry, I guess my house cleaning upper pill is starting to work. I'm FEELING IT.!!!!! Be SAFE, and check in often. HL

yeah, i'm about 20-25 miles inland (south houston). i've got my beer, extra charcoal and tons of brats. bring it on baby.

my girlfriend's family is down in la marque (a tiny town about, oh, i'd say about 2-3 miles north of galveston island ) and they're staying. i think they're nuts. especially if it hits cat5 (and i see no reason why it won't).

i figure, as long as i don't run out of beer, i won't even realize that i don't have lights.

    Take care Frannie and Doogie.

I hope both of you leave. You're bound to loose power and water. It's pretty miserable in that humidity.

    Be safe,

    Bryan

Maybe this hurricane is heading for the Astrodome...

Maybe they'll have to move these people back to the superdome

OMG, JH!! The NO evacuees are SO bummed out over this! They're already moving 'em out of Houston (Harris County - mandatory evacuation)

    be safe, Frannie

Thanks, ((((((((SK))))))))) They're already calling for MANDATORY evacuation of Harris County (Houston and surrounding) and voluntary evacuation of Montgomery County (where we live)....so looks like I might head up to Athene's.

DOOGIE: You just reminded me of something my older brother once said.

I was about a very young nicey 13 year old. my brother, about 17. I was watching the old black and white movie about the Titanic. There was a guy getting drunk. He was having a grand ole time. I was crying and my brother walked through the room. He sat down to watch.

He said that "That is the only way to go!!!!!" Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm He did have a point. 'But there was nothing else that the guy could do.

DOOGIE, DAMN-IT. You do have a choice. Go take your beer, Hurry and get a motel reservation inland, Talk to Leander, see if he has gotten some extra weed, Pack a whole bunch of munchies, pictures, your Bose stereo equipment, Your flat screen (you heard about Bryan's didn't you), your loved ones, and get the HELL OUT. And thanks for the memories. My brother has disappeared again. Where are you? HL

naw...i know. i'm too glib about this stuff. there's still a chance i might leave, but i haven't decided yet. i'm on the third floor of a relatively new, brick, apt complex (built in 2000). so i thought, great, no flooding. yeah, the only thing is that hurricanes have a tendency to also take the roofs off of buildings. yesh, so, we'll see. i'm not super excited about the idea of sleeping under the houston stars. (and i'm not talking about destiny's child)
