A longer syllabic is the tanka, 5/7/5/7/7.
I read a translation of Li Baw, where the guy who did it said that languages have differing "specific gravity",
So Chinese turns into a line of many more syllables in english.
japanese often ends up with shorter lines, as it is such a densely expressive language.
There is a beautiful volume "Japanese Court Poetry" with hundreds of verses from the early 100s to the 1600s with many striking poems, not printed anywhere else.
