My BS conductor would also make us comment about every picture in the book we were studying, and he would call on his wife when nobody else had their hand raised up. You could tell she didn't like it because whenever he did that she would give him a real dirty look!
I had the chance to conduct the BS a couple of times, when I did it I just wanted to get it over with. I remember finishing the whole study in 45 minutes instead of the full hour! After a while they stopped giving me that assignment.
Yeah there was this elder who during the book study would do that to me. I never refused because it wasn't at all difficult to come up with some answer off the top of my head, even if I was not paying any attention.
There was this one CO who did that ALL THE TIME during his visits. He didn't know anyone's name so he would call people "you with the red sweater" or "you with the glasses." One time he called on me "the girl in pink" when I didn't have my hand up and I grabbed the mic and said "my name is Soledad and I don't feel like commenting at this time." He looked like he wanted to kick my butt. I didn't care. Jerk.
soledad
LOL! You just simply were not humble enough. Thank God!
My dad was the conductor and threatened to call on us (my sister and I) even if we didn't raise our hands. I said, "Go ahead, I still won't say anything." He knew better than to ever try it.
Once I wasnt paying attention, and he called on me
Often I thought about that happening to me, and I felt like saying, "Sorry, I didn't raise my hand".
Once Hermann wanted a person to read about 10 verses at the book study, and he asked me without me raising my hand, I looked up to him and shook my head meaning no.
I just ate a big dinner, and I was wearing an old suit that didn't fit me anymore, and I could hardly breath in it.
Every other elder waits for someone to raise their hands.
I was always "The Safe pair of HANDS"
I never had that done to me with commenting. I did have a study conductor that did that with people reading scriptures but you didnt have to comment on it and you could always pass. Though the people that passed were looked down on. I didnt mind, I consider myself a very good reader. By age 12 I was easily better than most of the adults in the room, even at all the difficult names.
