I think the pedophile issue would reach the most people. Many don't care about religious doctrine but the pedophile problem would interest the most people, whether they have a religious affiliation or not

a segment raising the question: Where does all the money go? It has the status of a non profit...but there's billions of dollars involved, and little or no accountability.

Document the income...show the property... document their involvement in the stock market...Show the attitude for charity...like the announcement not to earmark contributions for Katrina relief...but to give to the world wide work. I think that the public would find this interesting....

Maybe the media can find out things that we have been unable to ....follow the money... Where does it really go?!?

Misuse of Funds: I'd like to see them exposed for taking funds donated for the "worldwide work" and misusing them to provide free legal defence for JW child molesters.

    Excellent thread topic.

I'd like to see an audit done on camera. A total turnover of all documents. I said all. Get to the meat of their worldly connections and what they actually do with the money, any of the money. What do they factually support within our military/ government and/ or are attached to like a tenticle {testicle}?

I'd also like to WITNESS a real-life video of what a jw youth lives through/ endures as a WT Kid. Place cameras in the home of jws with at least three or more kids. THAT would be truly revealing to the public.

And of course, a documentary on the policies, based on twisted doctrine, based on a bible that was only to accompany any and all WT Literature, that I feel, should and could only be descibed as lethal. We should all know what these are. Accompany this doc with the data on how many have already sacrificed their lives for these policies.

I'd love to compile the myriad of cases where they've swept the incriminating evidence about a fellow JW and hidden it from the authorities at all cost in the name of "not bringing reproach to the name of Jehovah and His organization on earth".

What a large encyclopedia that would be!!! I mean, truth be told and they could make many seasons of that drama "Law & Order".

It'd be called "Law & Order: Swept Under The Rug In The Name Of Jehovah".

I too think that the paedophile issue would get most people's attention. When I was in, a couple of the elders in our cong were always rattling on about this problem in other religions, particularly the Catholics. I know many people in my area would be interested to know that it is so rife within the wt.

I would document the whole 607 BCE date and how there's no evidence whatsoever that Jerusalem was destroyed at that time...........without that date, the whole thing would crumble.

I disagree that pedophilia would be the biggest attention-grabber for the world at large. Not that it isn't a major issue that has brought profound sadness to so many...but, the truth is, as bad as things have been within the WTS, the Catholic church already kind of owns this "mental real estate." If I had to pick one aspect of the organization that seems to hold the most intrigue for outsiders it would be Disfellowshipping.

Of course the underlying cause of it all is, as someone else pointed out, "religious control by fear." But when discussing the JWs with outsiders who want to know more about it, it's the shunning that always seems to widen their eyes. When discussing pedophilia, of course everyone despises this practice, but it's something that may appear to them as "the claims of disaffected former members." The organization presents itself as one that does much to protect its flock. And despite our knowledge to the contrary, there would always be others to present another side; the side in which many pedophiles were in fact expelled from the congregation. (A true non-Michael-Moore-style documentary would have to present both sides.) And, like I said, the Catholic Church has already broken them in on the basic concept: "Religious Leaders Often Sexually Abuse Children." No doubt, an effective documentary could be made about it--and I hope one is. But shunning is not widely practiced and is therefore something many may recognize as peculiar to the JWs.

Further, what subject offers more potential to actually affect policy of the WTS more than shunning? Think about it... With pedophilia they can just flat out claim they hate it and are doing everything to end it. But with disfellowshiping? This is a policy they readily defend. A documentary showing how it has viciously ruined the lives of so many, drawing them in, warning them to befriend no others, then cutting them off from every loved one they have would fill people with outrage. Also effective might be shining the spotlight on the little twist they came up with (regarding blood transfusions and more) that results in no disfellowshipping...but in which they assert that you have voluntarily dissassociated yourself--and so the same shunning results. This certainly leaves people with a nasty image of JWs--and a nasty image is exactly what they are trying so hard to avoid.

And, again, they cannot deny disfellowshipping--they must defend it as a "loving practice." This claim will appear as incredibly lame by any who see how this draconian policy actually works. The thing is, pedophilia could be another sad subtext within the whole documentary's theme of Shunning. The idea that a young person is not properly protected from pedophiles is heartrending, But the stories of young pedophile victims going to the authorities and being subsequently shunned? That's part of an effective documentary, friends.
