With the onset of the internet one can ask and get answered, ANY questions about this organization from people who have lived it and moved on...or have tried to. It always take a pound of flesh with it.
It DOES NOT adhere to the scriptures. What it adheres to are the Pharasaical views of its leaders over the years and a membership who continues to stay "loyal to Jehovah" because they know if they dont they will lose their families and be forced to shun and be shunned. Its spiritual extortion.
Do your research here. There are many VERY insightful wise and experienced exjws here. And ALWAYS someone who has experienced what you have questions about.

Nasty lyrics in hip hop and Jamaican music where I work! What to do??
by WuzLovesDubs inok...i have three teenagers, ive heard my share of over the top hip hop rap and head banging metal music.
and i pick my battles with that, and know that i cant really control what my kids listen to any more but dont have to have it played in my car with me in it or in my house with me present.
so i start the late night shift where i work, and its a totally different atmosphere there...laid back...which i really like...but with that comes everybody's choice of music to play while they work.

I think I will do two things...ask them to please turn it down so that only THEY can hear their music AND get a new Zune and plug myself in!! If I can hear it after that...I break out the AKs and the rotten tomatoes.

I did a little research here online, and apparently in Jamaica that kind of music has its own genre and its not at all unusual subject matter for them, nor shocking nor inappropriate if you are in Jamaica. They apparently have something called a slackness factor and are extremely antihomosexual. My friend whose bf is from Haiti said the islanders have pretty much little else to do than have sex so its no biggie to them. The other stuff, the rap is also a genre of music and to them it's just a style of music and picking apart what is actually being SAID in it is apparently not something they do. I swear the CD this guy plays every song on it sounds exactly like the one before it. Seriously...except for the words being different, its the same ONE note rap, the same low bass, the same drum riffs...and that makes it even more intolerable. One girl came in the other night (also black and urban herself with no husband and a baby daddy out there someplace) and she put on some slow jams that were at least tolerable. Until the last one which was a heartfelt love song called " NEVER CALL U BITCH AGAIN how sweet eh?

My department is smack in the middle of this particular Sams Club...so its like 4 acres of echoey steel, and I can hear everybodys music from all corners of the place simultaneously resulting in a raucous cacaphony of unwelcome sound the entire 8 hours I am there. I am the first one to have worked that department in the night shift so they are not used to anyone being there. So...
Im a 54 year old, white, midwestern, straight as an arrow mom and Im being bombarded with lyrics from one department like "IM A M-F-ING N-AH! DONT F- WIT ME! IMA GRAB MY D-K AND SHOVE IT INYA HARD! IM FRESH OUT! IMA KEEP IT UP! M-F-M-F-M-F N- N- N ...." alllllllll night. Its not music its YELLING and ANGER and PROTEST and DRUGS and SEX and BODY PARTS and....ugh ugh uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh!!!!! While in the OTHER corner of the building the MANAGER whom I noted didnt seem to notice those lyrics is playing his JAMAICAN cd on his sound system and Im hearing "I AINT NEVER SEEN A P-SSY LIKE THAT! YOUR V- SO TIGHT! IMA F-K YOU ALL NIGHT! " Oh my gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawd!!!!! And all of this AT THE SAME TIME.
Im probably going to be working this shift with these people a long ass time. Theyve been doing this a long ass time and IM the NEWBIE here. So...
Do I say anything? Do I get earplugs? Do I have the right to SAY anything??? I know damn well they would NEVER play this music in front of our general manager who is a church going, bible thumping, creole speaking black man himself. Not EVER would they. In fact I noted that all the music gets turned OFF at 5am with the day shift starts coming in and THEIR manager comes in.

Friends, Study Partners, and then GONE...
by ptucker8357 inabout a year and 12 ago, after much conversation with a jw co-worker, we began a formal study.
we studied religiously (no pun intended) almost every week unless i was on business travel or there was a sickness or other item that precluded us from getting together.. .
during that process, we became very strong, close friends... at least that is what i thought was happening.

Hey Ptuck...welcome. :) You've been love bombed my friend. When a JW befriends a non JW there is ALWAYS an agenda, and that agenda is to recruit you and make you a JW. Im sorry that happened to you. Really sorry...because I know I am guilty of doing that to people when I was a JW and Im ashamed of that. So on behalf of all of us who have come to the realization that that behavior is unchristian and INHUMAN to do to someone...I apologize.
I do hope you DONT become a JW though. It is a very pretty sparkly stone that people are attracted to and think it is one thing only to find out that it is an entirely OTHER thing when they become trapped in it like a tar baby. Continue to seek your spiritual path elsewhere. People spend more time buying a car than they do checking out a religion. A used car salesman will ALWAYS tell you the best things, true or not, about his car to make the sale. Why not talk to the people who owned the car BEFORE and know exactly whats wrong with it and why they no longer want it? Thats who we are ...the EXJWS.
I might like to suggest to you Ptuck, that you turn this experience around. Write to this man using the love for him that YOU had that was genuine and tell him that you not only forgive him, but you understand his burden now and only wish him love and happiness and that you enjoyed your time with him. And leave the door open for him to seek you out again, should his path become clear to do so in the future.
It might just be that he is having doubt about the religion himself and is embarrassed at leading you on all this time. We just never know. But the high road will make you feel better knowing you did the right thing.

I think people are either honest or not. But the problem I have seen with JWs is that when they DO something "honest" they then say stupid things like "I did that because Im a Jehovahs Witness" or "My son returned your wallet because he is a Jehovahs Witness" broadcasting their honesty like they were advertising a business instead of doing what they are SUPPOSED to be doing.
However, that being said, I have said before, I sat through a child custody court case with Duane Magnani defending the EXJW husband against the JW wife and a BATTERY of Watchtower lawyers, and heard them ALL lie through their teeth. They knew the judge had no clue what their beliefs were and that they could get away with that shit.
It was despicable. All the more so because they were lying in the name of Jehovah thinking that He allowed them to do so.

I have just had a WHOO HOO moment - a pattern in WT lies TIMING in mags
by hamsterbait inapril 1st, may 15th and sometimes september.. the number of huge doctrinal bombs, or manipulative deceits that have been printed regularly in those editions is incredible.. if i had the cd still i want to target those magazines to see what they put across.. the pattern is so regular it is monotonous.
i only realised this today as i was looking up some older threads, and realised how often these months come up.. of course when they want to slip something past craftily, they prolly use a feb or nov witchtower.. anybody able to confirm??.
do april 1, or may 15 have any special secret "pagan " or other associations??.
