War over preparing for WT study
by cookiemaster ini know that title sounds weird but so is this situation.
with the following information i'm about to desconspire myself a little bit, but i don't really care since i will simply deny it if any of my elders are lurking here.
anyway the situation is the following.

I just had the elders wife drop off my watch tower (the simplified version no less) I told her that I really could read and had studied lit at uni. Her eyes were rivited to my art laying all over the floor however, as it was of nude women, and women with wings and fangs. She was probably saying a prayer for her safety whilst she avidly stared at them. I told her I could draw her some nice boring houses if she liked, and she said that was good and what did the wings on my drawing represent. I said..............um......anger in this picture and hope in that one..........she said they looked like gargoyles. She couldn't wait to get out of my house. So why don't you hang posters up of naked women with wings and fangs or something. Mind you the christmassy thing sound quite good......

Reminder: Hate speech on this forum is NOT tolerated
by Simon insome of the comments on the anthony morris topics have been despicable.. if someone is an idiot or a biggot then they are damaging themselves.. if 'we' start posting vile filth, insults and threats then it doesn't convince anyone other than we're probably as bad..

I am very new here and can say honestly, that if I had found too many "angry" attacks upon the the principle people of this religion, then I would have been frightened away. Call it years of indoctrination if you like, but nonetheless it is true. It took ages for me to find the courage to make contact with this forum. I needed some place to find out what the general thinking was. I did not want rage or disordered thinking. I needed some humor and some ironic comment to read as regards this religion. It feels safer if there is no "rage" or "hate" as far as I am concerned. That is why many will join..........if they do not feel threatened by out bursts of anger on this forum. That is why I felt it safe to join this forum..........No Hate allowed. If I find that I am wrong, then I will leave, as I do not to promote that sort of mind numbing attitude.

Meeting Today
by lambsbottom inme and the spouse looked over the wt and decided it wouldn't be in our best spiritual interest to stay for the wt (we usually don't anymore).. so, took the kids to the public talk (was actually great, nice brother), took them outside for a snack and snuggled/played...and then left (an hour early).. .
felt great!
gotta do what you know is best for you spiritually!

Loved the video. I mirrored so much of the awful atmosphere of these glassy eyed people who give the talks; and that of those who have to listen to these intelligence attacking assualts..............suffer. And it is because of their sincerity that they put up with it, even when these poor people "know" they are being fed a pile of B())(*it. But they really do love God and.........
Because they have no-where else to go...................

I went to the meeting too!
There was a badly drawn "Ark" on a white board beside the speaker as he told us to be more obendient, not to aim for wisdom, and to be more generous.
I had trouble understanding what the Ark drawing had to do with it all. All I could surmise, was that the Ark was some sort of sublimation to our senses by word pictures instead of actual words. He only referenced his rotten drawing once, and that was to remind us of the obedience of Noah at the time of the end, at that time, and how Noah never questioned God's request. That was it................!!!!!!The elders wife who took me along, was clearly embarrassed at the inadequacy of this chaps talk, and it's message of "obedience", she was embarrassed enough to raise the topic first. Not me. She was able to escape the WT bit as she just had to come up to my place and explain that she found some of the historical stuff mentioned, was indeed, not accurate, and was open to speculation.

Purged songs of the Watchtower
by LogCon inmy memory of singing the kingdom songs go back to when i was a child in the 1950's.
they still hold a place in my memory and my heart.
how can something that is so much a part of your childhood not stay embedded in your heart.?.

Shula-mite maiden. Is one of the songs purged. The tune is the same minus the original wording as the song celebrated the "womanly" form.

Should I meet with the elders?
by winnie12 inso i posted my story somewhere on this board but long story short i have been expressing my doubts to my mom who is a jw.
i have been fading since december 2013 and went to a sunday meeting for the first time maybe two weeks ago.
i went only because i wanted to use the library that my hall has which had books published by the society from the early 1900's.

Don't meet with them. If you end up meeting with them, cry all the time and don't answer ANY questions.

the new jw bible and the verses they removed
by Crazyguy ini noticed they removed several important ones like mark 16:9-20 acts 8:37 and romans 16:24, so how does one find out if there is any relevance to them removing these verses and others.
they of course say these verses were not found in the oldest manuscripts so how can we see if they are correct or lying??
?.

Romans 16:24 was not in the 1971 bible either, this one was updated from 1961 and 1970 therefore in this new version, they must have reverted back to my older version. I like to have a few different bibles on hand for such occassions like this. When I showed this old/new deletion to my sister she was noneplussed. She likes to toss out the old light as soon as the new light comes to hand, which turns out to be the old light.

The Biggest Fear From The Watchtower Organization Is ???
by minimus ini think the organization is worried most about how jws will stay loyal to their families even as it rejects the admonition of the gb and elders..

Love the animation Outlaw, they crack me up and were one of my reasons for joining in the first place. I do believe humor is unofficially banned in the Kingdom Halls and therefore in the Kingdom of Heaven according to the GB. My humor has alway been the cause of so much censure.
