  my wife leaves the latest issues on my pillow when she gets back from her meetings.

  Where are the Young Elders?

  i was appointed as an elder when i turned 30, 25 years ago.

  which was the norm back then.. now, i very rarely here of a young man becoming an elder.

  in our town we have 2 english congregations.

  My nephew is an elder and has been since his late twenties. He has obsessive compulsive disorder and frets about everything. Everything must be just so........and this includes the order of his and others' religious thoughts.

  He loves his elder-ness. It makes him and his wife feel good to be doing the sorting work for god or the society..... The older women and men who are past 70 are not empowered to reject his opinions. He is an ELDER and it feels like a shot of spiritual testosterone for him as he prayerfully sentences this one or that one to approval level or the spiritual slag heap.

  I think some young ones may like this status.

  the jehovah's witnesses church in australia is the latest religious group to come to the attention of the royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse.. the child sex abuse royal commission will hold a public hearing into controversial christian group the jehovah's witnesses, next month.. the inquiry, to be held in sydney, will hear from people who were allegedly sexually abused within the jehovah's witnesses church in australia.. it will examine how the jehovah's witnesses church and its company, the watchtower bible and tract society of australia, responded to claims of child sexual abuse within the organisation.. a victorian inquiry into how churches handle child sex abuse claims has previously taken submissions from former jehovah's witnesses who alleged instances of paedophilia, sexual assault, blackmail and death threats.. the organisation has 64,000 active "disciples" in australia but has also been described as a cult.. jehovah's witnesses believe their church is the one true religion and all others are wrong.

  We have our last Prime Minister Julia Gillard to thank for this inquest. She worked against some real odds during her time in parliament, but she often prevailed. Nick Xenophon is also a good political ally in this matter. Many other people, not publically known, have also been working so hard to bring this situation to the fore.........

  There was a huge sense of......at last!....when she announced this inquest. Steven Unthank was so courageous in pursuit of justice for his family too. This announcement couldn't come at a better time. Personally, I feel as though it's Christmas, even though I have never celebrated such a thing!!!!!!!!

  No More Money!

  as of this june (i've already given my may contributions which are substantial) i am no longer giving money to support useless building projects that serve no good purpose.

  i am no longer giving money at conventions or assemblies.

  i am no longer giving money toward the circuit overseers upkeep.

  I also agree that contributions should cease immediately. I was taken for a lot of money initially. After my daughter died, I think I was desperate to believe she would come back somehow.

  I was really taken in, when in fact, I needed to "time out' and get some perspective on the loss and grief. I gave freely, then I stopped at some stage. It was due to the way I dressed and the criticisms aimed at me. My minister for Theocratic School is a famous man. He was and still is.....with the Shadows, the band that played with Cliff Richard. He was an ass and so pompous. He would take me to task for not having kingdom like dress codes applied in my life. I was busy trying to pay off my unit and stay afloat, This jerk has a stable of cars and money pouring out of his .....various exits....... I had a sense of humour and wanted to ask questions.... This was all very .........no no. Some where inside of me I felt they were a cold bunch of people, for the chosen ones that is... I was confused and hurt.

  My family have given thousands upon thousands to the org. They were asked for more and they gave it....How unscrupulous of them........I'm starting to really dislike them in a way I never thought possible. No more money from me....

  book presented a large amount of new light or clarified understanding of the events of the great tribulation.. here i am presenting it in chronological order -- this is the governing body's updated chronological order of events for the time right before the great tribulation through armageddon:.

  I would grab the nearest Watchtower to my heaving breast and run to the kingdom hall.

  Does This Mean JWs No Longer Point the Finger at Child Sexual Abuse in Other Religions?

  those who still attend meetings will be better placed to answer this question.

  since the conti case - but likely some years before it became more widely known in ex-jw circles and beyond - there appear to have been no watchtower or awake news snippets on child sex abuse in the churches of christendom.

  also, do rank and file still talk to householders about the churches of christendom's cover-ups of such abuse?.

  Steve2 That's right.

  She had her tablet out and was trying to get me to read an article by the society. It was a self indulgent and self righteous piece of work. I did read it at her insistence for she is my sister and I do love her........still. After all the self righteous slights she has sent my way.

  I read this societies take on child abuse and how wonderful they thought they were. After, I showed her how cunning the wording was. For example, it said that ....."in countries where it is law, enforcible law, that anyone working in tandem with children, teaching or overseeing in any way.... must have a Working With Children Card..". This showed that the society would not willingly set up a system of careful vetting of known sex offenders or those who were acting suspiciously. Not on their own anyway. No, this would be tantamount to a dirtying of their pristine view of "them", as opposed to the rest of the dirty, rotten, filthy, worldly people outside of their paradise like religion.

  I didn't get far, I was speaking and she was talking over me...........Defending God's organization. That is exactly how she was ranting. She lost her temper, not me. She was so angry she was spluttering in my face. She had lost her temper and I saw she hated me at that moment. It's not the first time I have seen this on JW faces either.

  
  The article did some more waffle about how the society hates child abuse. It was as though, if they threw in as many sentences as they could about how they hate abuse and don't condone it. They could feel very clean and godly, even though they had cases hidden from the average rank and file.

  In trying to point out to her that,...." this is a criminal action and not one of sin". She became totally unreasonable, completely out of control. I tell you, it was awful trying to get past her and down the stairs as she blocked my way, forcing this tablet with the WT material in my face.
  

  I told her I was going through something at the moment....my daughters case.....but she didn't want to know. She wanted to force me into saying that the org was perfect and that all the other religions were evil nests for sexual abuse. I pushed past her, she was calling out names to my retreating back. They were not nice sounding names either. I knew I was right but I was shaking with some sort of emotion as I tried to get the car going and get home to my safe haven.

  Her husband who is equally strong in this religion, spends a lot of time trying to discredit any abuse claim that he comes across re...the WTBTS. It's his mission to make woman liars first, then castigate all boys or men who have suffered....... to be sick deranged little boys who fantasized about a none existent abuse..".In this way, they find an excuse to be homosexuals at worst, or anti Jehovah...equally worse... All the world is a liar according to these witnesses who happen to be family.

  The society is terribly concerned about how public this ugly expose of their wrongs will become. It has enjoyed so many wins in the past. It glowed with self approval and conviction in their divine backing by God as they won case after case in the courts of law, it sought the right to have religious freedom and won.

  Nowadays, the scene has changed and it is challenged to defend it's illegal and inhumane neglect toward children and any others who have been hurt. They don't like that. They don't brag as much in their magazines anymore. At least, not that I have seen online or in the ones that I have.

  This is a strange time for them. It's a strange time for all of us.........It was very strange to have an elder and his wife turn up at my door two weeks ago and have him tell me about his sexual abuse....He was condemning it, but he was more about the "repentance" of the criminal than his own rights. My sister was exactly the same. She said that if a JW does such a thing toward a child.......they often repent and that is sufficient for the society. I tell the truth here, I really do.

  It's worth fighting isn't it? And yes, the dreadful worldly magistrate and the detectives turned out to be the most humane and decent people.

  I however.......brought reproach on Gods name. What a joke it is. It feels so great to have a bit of justice and it may help to encourage others. I was afraid the day would never come that I could feel vindication for myself and my children. For the last year I have been waiting and waiting for the outcome. Now we have it.

  My daughter is studying medicine and this money will really help her.

  Thankyou so much. I feel like getting drunk.........Happy drunk.

  i'm reading a very interesting book right now "your god is too small" by the atheist republic.

  it makes the point that there are two creation accounts in the bible!.

  in one humans are created after the animals in the second humans are created before the animals.
