so i am being hounded by the elders who are staring to get suspicious about our "slackening off in the truth".
rather than being railroaded or pushed into a defensive or argumentative situation, i am keeping the following comment up my sleeve:.
"jehovah is really blessing our family life.
I guess one of the elders brought up your spiritual slackening at an elders' meeting, after which one or two elders were assigned to follow up on you & find out the reasons why you are slacking

i visited by parents over the weekend and accompanied them to their assembly....same rubbish spoken about since ive been born....obey the gb, donate your last penny, no education and be a pushover.. anyways, our assembly hall has lush vegetation and scenery, so i was more focused on that....i started dozing off after lunch, so got up and went walking, saw some older folks from the congregation i grew up with.. upon the conclusion of the assembly, wed normally leave out right after the prayer ends so as to avoid the traffic.
however, for this assembly he told me that hes gonna be a few minutes with the elders and branch representatives...so a few minutes turned into an hour..
I think we are on different lines of thought. My point is - can you FORCE someone to put money into a contribution box?
oh yep...here we go..... this weeks service meeting has a part designed to show how children should be indoctrinated and manipulated into going "out in service".
the part first asks for the disturbingly corny cartoon clip to be played on the big screen at the halls: "lets go out in service!".
(if you haven't watched it yet, please go to jw.org and watch it....you simply won't beleive it until you see it!).
With 2/3rds of young ones leaving the truth, they need to come up with different tactics to make meetings more appealing to young ones

Looks like you don't understand the meaning of coercion. Please check it up in the dictionary

True, but there is a difference between voluntary contributions & forced contributions - contributions obtained under compulsion

I think a better question would be: Is it necessary to PAY a fee to be one of Jesus' disciples???

I was one of those who were dragged out in service as a kid. I quite believed that those who did not respond to our preaching work would be destroyed at Armageddon. I also believed that the preaching work was the most important work ever as it is a life-saving work that is never to be repeated again! It is the greatest responsibility ever given to us & it is a privilege to be part of this work which saves lives. We were like rescuers trying to help people to get off a sinking ship or to get out of a burning building. Not wanting to have a share in preaching would mean that I did not have love for my neighbors & even worse, not have love for Jehovah & Jesus. Now I realize how badly my thinking was messed up & regret all those wasted years in "service". Damn!
i hold kindness in high regard; it separates us from the drudgery of life and elevates those who practice it as well as those who receive it.
my family has been going through a big crisis for several weeks now and i've noticed a few things.
several of the elders have expressed their concern for us, shared a scripture and then back out to field service or whatever.
Who would Jesus favour more?
1. A pioneer who spends hours & hours preaching to strangers while overlooking those in the congregation who are in need
2. A lowly publisher who shows genuine love & concern for those in the congregation & goes out of their way to assist and support them
i think we all have some time a weaker moment and miss the times we were regular witness.. to admit, i have some of these moments a year.. for these moments i have this point "i can't accect being part of.
a religious organisation that structural apeals child abuse cases".. then i'm finished with the moment.. the path is narrow.. g.. .

I couldn't accept being part of an organisation which implements nonsensical man-made-laws which have resulted in the abuse of thousands of children (2 witness rule & cover-ups), the deaths of thousands of people (no blood policy), and the breaking-up of families (shunning)
i have been fading for six years now.
i only continue to do the minimum to keep my family together and to keep association with close friends.
i would like to hear your experience and how you are getting along.
