Speaking about hours, quantity is always more important in their eyes rather than quality. As for visibility, many who do fine works behind the scenes are overlooked in favor to those who do little but know how to put on a big show of the little that they do. That was so in my case. Go figure!

Elder Appointments
by MaybeSo indoing some research as to what qualifications someone needs to meet to become an elder, i came up with one conclusion: it's who you know and is very subjective.. funny thing is too, if you searc the wt online library there are not recent articles that describe and outline the requirements.
which makes me think that there were too many requirements and as we all know, it is based now on how close you are with the current co and not necessarily on being a model jw in the congo.
so the borg decided to leave it up all to the co and not tell the rest what to look for on these appointed men.. you could do your hours, be early to the meetings, be prepared, keep your car and house clean, family in good reputation, etc but if you are in the circle then you can forget it.

Disfellowshipped "People" Are Treated Like Sh*t!
by minimus inwhen i look back at it, i must apologize to anyone that was disfellowshipped for the treatment we gave to you.
we clearly set ourselves up as judges and often viewed disfellowshipped persons as "dead"!
i hope anyone that is still in the congregation knows that this treatment is unchristian, unkind and unloving..

I just finished watching Londo's video about how he went to the elders for help but ended up getting disfellowshipped instead. Adding on to Terry's comment, JW's don't even see CURRENT members who are "spiritually weak" / inactive as stray sheep waiting to be rescued. They are viewed as more of a liability to the congregation instead. Even though not disfellowshipped, they are often treated as if they are. It's not a wonder then that so many end up leaving the "truth" as a result of the lack of love shown towards them!

Service. Service to who? To God or to men? This is the part which witnesses simply don't get...

What Made You Finally Wake Up?
by Tenacious inhello to all.
i've been on this site for a couple of weeks now posting here and there but have not had the opportunity to read about many of the regular members and what led up to their leaving the wt.. i understand that some of you (i'm part of this club) may not be able to disclose many details and i can appreciate that.. i'd love to hear what was it that finally made you renounce what is and hopefully soon to be "was" the wt.. i truly look forward to having good discussions.. thank you to all for your kind participation.. .

After learning TTATT, I tried to defend the organization & tried to justify its actions, but reached a point where I could not defend it anymore! I then realized that if I couldn't defend "the truth", it was not because I was a poor defender of "truth" but rather it was because it is NOT truth in the first place!

"John Roe 2 says he told the Elders he wanted to call the police, but the Elders said they preferred to handle the matter "in house." Doe 3 was "disfellowshipped,"
What a loving theocratic spirit-guided organization!!!

CAN WE BE BETTER THAN THE GOD WE SERVE?
by Terry inbe careful what you say god is and what he wants; you may be saying more about yourself than you realize.. it may well be our personal taste in religion is revelatory of our basic character.. _____.
look at the devout islamist whose worship consists of blowing people up or cutting off heads.. contrast that to those hindi who sit with legs folded in their own lap contemplating bliss.. now contrast both the above to somebody who believes service to god is visiting the sick in hospitals.. _____.
instead of there being 3 different gods served--there might only be an extraordinary unveiling of each person's heart and mind!.

JW reasoning: We cannot understand all of God's actions
My reasoning: If I cannot understand God's actions no matter how hard I try, it would mean that I do not understand what I believe, and if I cannot understand what I believe, then how can I fully believe???

Why can't I just leave?
by Trapped in JW land insome of you may know my situation.
i'm still going to meetings, but i am a closet apostate and homosexual i. only keep going to meetings to please my family and some friends.
i guess i could tell my mom i no longer want to be a jehovah's witness and stop going to meetings, but i'm too scared to do it.

If you wait, it would definitely be easier for you to leave as you would then be in a position where no one can control you. As long as you are living under the same roof with JW family, leaving can NEVER be easy. If your bf truly understands you, he would be willing to wait, if not, then it would simply mean that he is not the one for you
