November WT God's View Of War
by JW_Rogue indid anybody else read this article and just think wth?.
sometimes god approves of war.. sometimes god doesn't approve of war.. when the israelites fought battles and won it was because god blessed them.. when they lost it was because god had not blessed them.. sometimes god fights for oppressed ones.. sometimes they must wait and have faith.. it is so clear that the bible contradicts itself on this issue and that the nation of israel had a totally different view of god than the early christians.
it is also clear that the nation of israel was highly superstitious and would attribute every battle's outcome to the whims of a higher power.

If God is love, then he wouldn't have commanded his people to fight. It's as simple as that -

CO visit must be coming up
by BeautifulMind inthe cobe of the cong we attended called me and left a vm, and also emailed both me and my husband.
this all happened yesterday.
he said he was checking in to see how our family was doing, which is a joke.

I have also received messages from an elder, I guess he's the one assigned to "check up" on me. Part of me would like to post them up here, but the other part says better not (just in case) -

If JWs Were More Tolerant Would It Help Their Money Woes?
by minimus inthey don't want you bettering yourself.
they hate college education.they applaud you if you quit full time secular work and instead, "pioneer".
they cry that they have money problems.

If JWs Were More Tolerant Would It Help Their Money Woes? Definitely. People have to not only want to give, but have the means to give as well. The organisation is definitely not doing themselves any favors by taking an anti-higher education stand & creating unrealistic rules & standards which make people feel burdened & depressed

Finally time to move on
by Bungi Bill ini have finally reached the point where i can forget that i was ever involved with such a $!%* cult as jehovahs witnesses.
(a situation that has taken over 20 years to achieve).. this discussion board certainly helped in this process, and i want to thank everybody for their support over the time that i have been a member both of this site and the old www.jehovahs-witness.com website (where i used the acronym reefton jack).
it is now, though, time to move on with my life, so i will say my farewells to everybody.. bill .

The Psychological Manipulation of the Watchtower.
by The Rebel inwhen someone interacts with you they can influence your thoughts and also manipulate your thinking.
i became aware that this is what i was doing with householders on the ministry.
we chipped away at householders with manipulation, and called it a return call.

I guess I was a failure in the ministry. I have never, not even once, been successful in getting a householder to come to the meetings! -

Just found out their about to baptise my 14 year old boy.
by Crazyguy inthere doing this right under my nose but i just found out.
not sure what to do but would like your help on getting me wt information on my headship role and how they shouldn't be doing this with out my permission.
also would like some help on showing my son the ramifications on what happens to someone when they get baptized and how they'll expect him to treat me.
-
Divergent
Hey, don't forget the most important thing - that getting baptized is ultimately your son's own personal decision. No one can force him to do anything without his consent. Sit down with him & have a heart to heart talk & find out what he feels & thinks

need input: why does my wife do this. when at the meeting she is always nodding her head in agreement
by goingthruthemotions inso this is just so nauseating to me when she noddes her head in agreement and in a low voice or sound does a "mmm uh" in agrrement.
but here is the deal, she never aswers at the meetings.
she doesn't go out in service often.

Here's the weird part: I've observed audiences with not a single person nodding their heads, then all of a sudden - someone starts to do it... then when others observe that, they would instinctively start to follow! Sometimes it has to do with something which the speaker said, but at other times, it's for no apparent reason other than seeing brother so-and-so or sister so-and-so doing it, then thinking: Hey, they are nodding & I'd better do it too so that I would look good & attentive also! -

The fade did not work
by BeautifulMind innot long after learning ttatt, my hubby and i decided it would be best for us to fade.
his entire family is in, but not in the same cong.
we made it to the region convention and one sunday meeting after that.

Wow. Great to know that there are people out there who are able to quit cold turkey. For me, I did a 95% fade - quit field service altogether (currently inactive) but still attend the occasional meeting for the sake of family. All out is the best way to go!
