i find the timing of the new mid week meeting rather strange.

we all know jw's love their carrot on the stick, they salivate over speculating what the new releases will be at the convention.

with all these problems going on, layoffs, child abuse, money issues, building halts etc... what better way to have your average jw ignore it than to completely change up the meeting.

if an (aggressive) real estate fund is stopping it's operations directly,.

and if an publishing house is minimize the portfolio,.

and if a member of it's board of directors is telling the costs are higher then the profits,.

I believe there is something else going on behind the scenes that is not related to money.

They have some kind of "masterplan" "final solution" they are inching towards and they are using shortfalls in funds as a handy smokescreen.

They probably always intended to get rid of the branches and only have a "vatican"at Warwick.

We shall see, all will be revealed grasshopper.

Any thoughts on the real reasons for droppng the 'school"

my thoughts are.

1. they want to avoid being made to comply with any laws that come with anything classed as a "school" especially a school with children enrolled.. 2. the mid-week meeting has been dying in the ass for years and needs a revival.

i predict happy -clappy-sing-a-longs to be included in the program.. anyone else have any thoughts ??

I see the elders becoming nothing more than glorified ushers at the GBTV show.

And the MS's like an IT department. Or possibly the other way round, but the MSs are usually younger and have more computer skills.

Either way the info will increasingly continue to come from the big giant heads on a screen.

Nothing happens overnight with this org.

These kinds of changes are likely planned at the very least a couple of years in advance. What you see is definitely all there is with this religion and where it's all leading has yet to be revealed. IMO

I'd say you are spot on with qualified brothers being thin on the ground LisaRose. The School Overseer was one of the most loathed assignments to draw the short straw on I gather from the harried sighs of the brothers who spent before and after meetings chasing down the students and trying to find last minute replacements for the cancellations.

The novelty of the new meeting will wear off pretty quick too I expect, because as you say just rearranging the deck chairs.....
