The thing is I was always under the impression as a JW that during the GT when the "beast turns on the harlot and eats up her fleshy parts" (sounds like Hanninbal Lecter)that JWs would still be faithfully carrying out their preaching work under the very noses of the authorities and that's what would get our asses arrested, not that we would be hunted down and dragged out of our own homes. So obviously WT thinks that in the near future sitting in your tastefully appointed basement chatting peacefully will be a crime worthy of arrest. Give me a break!
The whole thing raises more questions that it answers.
Why were they arrested? They weren't doing anything, it makes no sense.
How did the police know where to look?
Did they sieze publisher record cards to find out where JWs live?
Where are the GB and what the hell are they doing when all this is supposedly going on?
The point of the videos? Pure unadulterated fear porn brought to you by JWdotborg.
i came across this weird blog that castigates fading jws for their "cowardice" and "hypocrisy" for not making themselves vulnerable to shunning.
apparently in the view of this blogger jws who discover it's not the truth are morally obliged to play by the watchtower rules and face the consequences of shunning.. http://jwresearchblog.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/fading-faking-and-lying-as-unbelieving.html#comment-form.
what is absent from the blog post is any discussion of the statement in the july 2009 awake!, that no one should be made to choose between their beliefs and their family.
The reality is a WT baptism is not binding in any way, shape or form and WT has no real authority over anyone.
i say no.. although the tetragrammaton appears close to 7000 times in the hebrew scriptures, the personal name of god does not.
seems to me that god made sure that both that his personal name does not appear therein and that no one would ever actually know it or learn even how to pronounce it.
he also made sure that his name (baring 3 hallelujahs in revelation) did not appear in the new testament.
Yeah, that's what WT would want people to believe - that it's all about Jehovah being God and Jesus being the Son and maybe it started out that way, maybe there were sincere reasons in the beginning (generous applying of the benefit of the doubt there) but, it is a brandname for WT. A brandname pure and simple.

No, I don't think it matters. If it was so important then why didn't Jesus pronounce it for everyone?
WT's obsession with the name and insistence on their preferred pronunciation is distraction to say the least. They claim it's use is mandatory for salvation and it has become a talisman, a lucky charm word for JWs.
Something is definitely wrong with this picture. Why does WT insist on this pronunciation?
Sure it distinguishes WT from other religions, but doesn't that just make Jehovah a gimmick, a sales hook for the purpose of brand differentiation.
based from many of the doctrines the wts has come forth with since its existence as publishing house which were obviously incorrect or false and propagated doesn't make you wonder why there were so many who embraced this organization with full devotion and acceptance ?
even back in the late 1800's there was scrutinizing skepticism to what the leaders of the wts theologically taught.
millions of people since then have accepted the teachings of a really couple novice bible theologians, who brought forth many weakly supported doctrines such as and concerning that mankind was living in the end times and all of mankind should be prepared for its imminent destruction.. very view other christian based faiths from catholicism or protestantism have made these kind of outlandish doctrinal assertions and they make up an overwhelming greater amount of practicing theologians, to those who achieved a high a level of academic training in bible theory.
I think Russell was intending to create what he felt would be the ultimate religious trifecta with the bringing together of esoteric knowledge and christian beliefs and jewish tradition. A frankenreligion that offered what no other religion did and he succeeded.
i love muslims - which is why i hate mainstream islam.
history has categorically shown us that people are better off when there's separation of church and state, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and women's equality - all of which mainstream islam is diametrically opposed to.
and criticizing islam doesn't make me an "islamophobe".
That's what's known as a "Hitch Slap!"
