Damon Wayans was apparently at 2017 Annual Meeting
by Richard_I infrom this post on reddit.com/r/exjw, damon wayans was at the 2017 annual meeting.
the wayans were raised as jw's but i don't think any of them stated.. strange to see him here.
this is the same man who defended bill cosby from all the sex abuse allegations..

Did they draw straws amongst celebrities to see who's gonna identify with which religion or something?
I feel sorry for the ones who drew JWs and Scientology poor bastards, it's much easier and cooler to be Catholic these days. Everyone wants tickets when the Pope comes to town the GB ahhh not so much.

There is only one major flaw to that scenario. WT is a business that needs to stay afloat and people can't donate if they're dead.

The Watchtower's Real Crisis
by JeffT inwhen discussing the watchtowers financial problems, i've generally been of the opinion that they probably are not in a real financial crisis.
i've come to believe that money may be something of an issue, but its wrapped up in a much larger problem.
this came to me this morning when reading about the annual meeting.. i think the society's leadership is just plain out of ideas.

Is it at all possible both scenarios are true - to a degree.
Maybe yes maybe no.
A winding down of the WTBTS we all knew, a purposeful culling of most KHs, maybe keep one day conventions once a year so there is real world association, if conventions are profitable enough that is and a new JWdotborg broadcasting where we are ready to accept your donation - now!

Do They Still do Door-to-Door as Much as Before?
by cofty insince the advent of the trolleys do the majority of jws still go door to door like we used to?.
do they still have meetings for field service on sat mornings and sun afternoons where most head off to the local territory while one or two go to do trolley work or has the importance of door to door work reduced?.
with the reduction of printing wts and awakes what will they offer at the doors?.

Just my experience, in my area only a few years ago I couldn't leave the house without seeing a witnessing group of about 6-8 stolling and chatting around a block somewhere in the territory. I haven't seen a single witness going from door to door in two years. There are a couple of carts but only seen in fine weather on wednesday mornings.

They haven't run out of money or ideas they've run out of interest. Interest in the old way of doing things cause they have found themselves a new way.
They are a business changing direction is all and they are in the tricky transitional phase, pulling out of the old way of doing things and directing resources into the new.
There will be more to come for sure, no way is this rebrand complete yet. Watch this space is what I say.

Can you sue a False Prophet
by maccauk inits a serious question but we all know that thousands even millions have been misled, brainwashed or deluded into thinking the end of the world is coming by false teachers and prophets.
many people gave up family, careers, time, enjoyment of life etc etc only to be disappointed time and time again.they are responsible for pain, suffering, and manipulation.
this goes to many denominations.

Buyer beware! Or, in the case of religion believer beware!
Personal due diligence should be excersized in any important life altering decisions but, to me, extra caution is needed with religion not less.

Why I think the Trinity doctrine is an irrelevant talking point with JWs, and what I believe could be a better approach.
by Island Man inthere are no authentic/uncontested bible verses that prove a trinity.
the trinity doctrine is arrived at by inferences - not unlike the way that jws arrive at the doctrine that jesus is michael the archangel.
the jw proof texts against the trinity are at least as strong, if not stronger than, trinity proof texts.

I didn't think the trinity was relevant even when I was in.
