AGM - Are they now teaching predestination?
by Doubting Bro inanother agm thought.
in tight pants tony's part, he mentioned several times that jehovah draws those he chooses and only those rightly disposed would come in.
and individuals that liked the literature but made no progress towards becoming jw were a "waste of time".. was he setting the stage for them introducing the thought of predestination?

Who has a harder time leaving JW's - Born Ins or those who converted?
by HeyLittleGirl inmy freind (who is also out) and i were talking about this the other night.
i was a born-in, 3rd generation jw and she converted when she was in her late 20's.. when she left, she said that she knew the world wasn't as bad as she was told as a jw, so she knew she would be fine.
also, she still had lots of "worldly" family who welcomed her back with open arms.. it was harder for me - i had nobody in the "world", no family or freinds.

Yes, I tend to agree that if you had some memory of normal reverting to it is not as hard.
But, I think generally speaking those that convert can feel more betrayed especially if they gave up worldly families and jobs and houses and romantic relationships and hobbies for the sake of the borg.
After burning that many bridges is can be difficult to reesestablish.
At the end of the day I don't think anyone leaving has the monopoly on suffering, it's not a competition after all.
Those that suffered abuse that they got no justice for and were revictimized by the congregation I feel for the most.

What is the Psychological agenda of the Watchtower Corporation enacted through its publications ?
by Finkelstein inbasically its to get people to believe in the things they say and proclaim.
once people are in a believable mental state and acceptance, then the wts can control people's thoughts, emotions and actions through acts of repetitive indoctrination.. this all comes together by instilling the notion that their interpretation of the bible is the correct and accurate one.
add in the notion of following us you'll be more righteous in the eyes of god , thereby offering a better chance of survival at the soon to come armageddon.. everything connects in a cohesive self supporting way and subconsciously effects the thoughts and social behavior of all those being indoctrinated.. constantly pointing out the many evils of the outside secular world or other religions as "false" but how one can gain true happiness when inside this organization is their way to sustain devoted members.

The power and control that WT exerts on the members is inexcusable, there is nothing to justify this level of interference to adherence over the personal lives of believers. Apart from creating a captive audience (customer base) for life, along with the lives of successive generations, I cannot think of a single reason that any group could justify this level of psychological manipulation and control over its members.

Cults can't afford for any of their people to go off script.
The script is real easy to remember now : "Please visit out website."

Apostasy: The Movie - Directed by Daniel Kokotajlo
by darkspilver indaniel kokotajlo's new film apostasy has it's world premiere at the toronto international film festival in september 2017. apostasy.
family and faith come into conflict for two jehovah’s witness sisters in manchester, when one is condemned for fornication and the other pressured to shun her sibling.. this fresh, unadorned first feature from director dan kokotajlo carries an unmistakable note of authenticity from its very first scenes.
set in a jehovah's witness community in england, the film's strength and power lies in its directness.. apostasy depicts the growing rift in a family — a mother and two daughters — who are rigorously devoted to their religion.

I wonder if Warwick will release a statement.
Also will these movies cause a spike in people checking out jwdorborg website?

The Watchtower's Real Crisis
by JeffT inwhen discussing the watchtowers financial problems, i've generally been of the opinion that they probably are not in a real financial crisis.
i've come to believe that money may be something of an issue, but its wrapped up in a much larger problem.
this came to me this morning when reading about the annual meeting.. i think the society's leadership is just plain out of ideas.

Contradicting Society directives
by stuckinarut2 inwith the agm changes, and the changes over the recent few years, it struck me just how contradictory and hypocritical the society is.. we were always told that "wonderful expansion" and growth in halls was proof of god's blessing.
now it is the other way around, and building expansion is halted.. we were always told that door to door is the best way to take the "life saving" truth to people.
now it is the cart work.... we were always told that the abundance of "spiritual food" in the form of publications was proof of gods direction and teaching.

Truth is lies.
Ignorance is education.
Stagnation is growth.

Did they draw straws amongst celebrities to see who's gonna identify with which religion or something?
I feel sorry for the ones who drew JWs and Scientology poor bastards, it's much easier and cooler to be Catholic these days. Everyone wants tickets when the Pope comes to town the GB ahhh not so much.

There is only one major flaw to that scenario. WT is a business that needs to stay afloat and people can't donate if they're dead.
