I agree with Blondie. If you are too sick to work you are definitely too sick to pioneer. If you pioneer the way they tell you to it is hard work. And expensive.

so in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the law and the prophets.. .

But how do you find out how someone would like to treated. What would be the baseline for people you don't know.
For eg you might decide to start from" most people respond to kindness" and go from there.
Sometimes it is not how we like to be treated that we respond to, but rather what's familiar-even if that would be considered dysfunctional to someone else.
Like you compared people who like small talk and people who prefer getting to the point quickly. How do you know which type they are before speaking to them. There has to some assumptions made at first. Could that be where "golden rules" come into play?
As far as disproving the divinity of the bible I'm not sure. Maybe yes, maybe no.

Satan's tic tacs or GB kool aid?
by sparrowdown inanyone that has been a jw would be familiar with any or all the following scenarios.. 1. you get offered a full time position or promotion after submitting a pioneer application.. 2. a really great bible student you have gets offered a job which means they have to move or have no time for study anymore.. 3. a promising return visit begins a new relationship and the new bf/gf is'nt favourable to jws so the great rv backs off.. 4. a married sister falls pregnant right after her and her husband are invited to bethel or circuit work or gilead.. 5.a couple needs to start caring for an aging parent right after they decide to move to where the need is greater.. etc, etc, etc.
most if not all jw's would tell you satan is to blame,.... or is he?.
satanic pattern of sabotage or blind superstition?.

An illusion of pattern in a string of random events?

The right to free speech comes with the right to not listen or agree. Fair enough, good point Jeff.

Here is my prediction.
by Iamallcool ini think next year they will have the memorial at a larger event space like where they held their circuit assemblies.
i noticed each first congregation at each kingdom hall has to leave immediately because each 2nd congregation is coming afterwards.
the first congregation does not really have the time to greet new people after the memorial.

There is nothing personal or intimate about the memorial experience so a larger venue won't help that aspect.
But for logistical reasons I can see your prediction becoming more common place as more congregations merge.
But riddle me this; Did Jesus intend for the occasion to become "bigger than Ben Hur" ?
If so, why did he only invite his closest companions, not all and sundry?

Your Experience with Resigning as an Elder
by committeechairman ini'm considering resigning as an elder.
i'm not planning to fade or stop as one of jehovah's witnesses, just stop serving as an elder.. i have responsibility in the congregation and in circuit, district, rbc, etc.
and i'm completely exhausted.

So do you still believe the GB are the FDS?
Do you still believe the WT interpretation of the Bible to be the only correct one?
Do you still agree with WT rules?
Does the thought of being "persona non grata " if you step down worry you?
How many disfellowshippings have you been responsible for?

If this drug was developed what sort of conditions could it be used to treat? MS, epilepsy, what?
Anything like medical cannabis?
