A new low in public shaming (and groveling)
by Captain Schmideo2 ina local elderette at my former hall (the same type person who posts selfies while out in "service") posted this public admonishment.
the responses are so pathetic.
these are all adults, but they still act like scared children:.

That some serial killer who never heard the truth will be resurrected, but some innocent child who dies at armageddon will be dead forever. 😦 -

Yes, some days I feel right royally pissed off with all religion.
Like days when I see some witness and they scurry past me like I have the plague. Or when I read of some abuse case or some JW needlessly dying because of blood policy.

The lesser of two evils
by voodoo lady ini was fortunate enough to have a fairly smooth exit from the cult.
a major factor in this transition was retaining the one and only family connection that was important to me.
even though the relationship was challenged, it didn't end, and in many ways, the very nature of it being tested proved its strength.

One day at a time.
Just think of it as being like an arrow - an arrow has to be dragged back in order for it to shoot forward.

Has This Site Ever Hurt You In Your Journey Out Of The JW Religion?
by minimus inthis site has gone through many metamorphosis over the years.
i believe it is a kinder, less edgy place tan it was a few years ago.
i wonder how many people were helped versus turned off by this place.

I found this site to be very intimidating at times, especially in the beginning.
I have become acclimatized -gradually.
It has helped me to toughen up I suppose, but I do try to avoid the contentious tit for tat arguements that can go on and on.... and on. I'm not a masochist and would prefer to laugh then argue.
Thanks for asking.

'Theocratic Warfare' - Do you know when and where it started?
by EdenOne inwe all hear this notion of "theocratic warfare", and how it is used to justify jehovah's witnesses to lie or withhold the truth even under oath, based on the reasoning that we don't owe the truth to those who aren't entitled to it.
but, can we put our finger on where this doctrine started?
well, brace yourselves, here it is.

Organizations like this one need outside enemies to survive.
Rutherford was a bear-poking asshole, as well.

Typical aussie humour - unapologetically stating the obvious with plenty of bleeps thrown in.
He's a very funny guy.

Exclusive Witnesses might be more Appropriate!
by yodastar ini've been thinking of late that really what is the difference between the exclusive witnesses and the exclusive brethren?
) they are controlling, limiting and the only right way as far as religion goes.. in fact the 'truth' slogan was an amazing marketing campaign and really does work for those members.
are you in the truth one would ask?

As a JW you learnt that it wasn't safe to be yourself, it wasn't safe to voice your opinion or share your true feelings.
So you developed your own ways of dealing with that, like defensiveness, deflecting, dishonesty etc etc.
Sounds like your wife is inviting you to be yourself, she's letting you know you're safe with her, she's not the elders.
Being yourself takes practice but it's worth it and it sounds like you have already figured out what you need to do, so just relax and everytime you feel yourself going into WT/cave-man mode take some deeep breaths and say "honey, I feel.......and I think......." and then listen to what she has to say. Maybe even ask her how she deals with the same feelings. Believe me she will thank you for it and it will get easier.
