Has anyone noticed the JW movies are trying to normalise their lifestyle?
by truthseeker inhaving watched the prodigal son returns movie produced by the organization and a recent mini-clip of a brother in london who is shown jogging and doing normal everyday things while wanting to "reach out" it occurred to me that the organization is trying to normalize their bizarre lifestyle and beliefs for the benefit of non-witnesses.. what do i mean by normalization?
they try to make the witnesses look like just another christian denomination who are reasonable while their members live and enjoy normal lives that appear to be within the mainstream.. they do this by not mentioning anything to do with higher education, armageddon or the urgency of the end of the world nor is their discussion or mention of the blood issue.
these are things mentioned often at kingdom halls and in study articles.. watching the prodigal son returns, the family appears to live a normal life, going to meetings and studying.

Hiererchy among elders --so says Kenneth Flodin
by wannaexit inthere has always been a hierarchy among elders.
now it's been validated by kenneth flodin in this talk about the word "princes".
so not any elder can be a prince in the new order.

Sorry boys but there can only be one prince.

Any weapons enthusiasts here?
by Wonderment ini knew i had a couple of firearms around the house, and one in the car.
however, i didn't realize i had seven, yes, seven of them, when i proceeded to count them.
the reason for that is that i haven't gone to the shooting range in years.

I was in the archery team in High school does that count? I was a preeetty good shot too, but only as a sport not like a hunger games situation or anything.

I no longer feel smart as a JW, I feel dumb...
by thedepressedsoul ini don't want anyone to take this the wrong way but i use to at least feel smart as a jw.
when i went to thursday night meetings, i at least felt like i was a student, that i was learning how to speak publicly, i could prepare my own comments, i could answer points that i learned from the weekly bible reading.
i even feel like an "idiot" studying for the meetings.

The other thing to be aware of is that ignorant people are easier to control. Do yourself a favor and research all WT teachings using non-WT sources. Really get your teeth into it and you will be shocked at how deceptive they are.

When they went into more detail with their literature and meeting talks it wasn't because the information was more intellient it was just bolder and more unapologetic in its lies. The dumbing down of the information you are observing just means they know they can't get away with as much anymore so they keep it vague and superficial.
They want you to feel dumb, but you are not dumb the information is dumb.

If you hand over your hard earned cash to these entitled narcissists they will give Jehovah the credit for it and go back to shunning you and if you don't they will say you've become very "worldly" and go on shunning you.

Spring has sprung!
by GrreatTeacher inthough not officially spring, the past two days in the mid-atlantic have been gorgeous!
it's been over 70°f and sunny.
i've opened all the windows in the house and have sunshine and fresh air pouring in.. i walked outside today and noticed that my tulips are pushing through the ground.

I think many of us overestimate just how much of an effect our disappearing off into the sunset will have on the congregation and also how we will be missed. Sure there will be an initial flurry of gossip and questions as to your spiritual fitness, but if you just keep acting like "I'm ok, what about you how are you doing" whenever you see someone they soon stop asking, lose interest and look elsewhere for more juicy gossip.
They actualy give up on people very quickly these days, so hang in there and think of it this way.
Your association with the congregation is a like rock being thrown into a pond - it may make a splash, even create a small ripple, but then it disappears without a trace of ever being there at all.
