Lady drives car into Kingdom Hall
by Sugar Shane inright smack into (what looks like) the front entry!.
http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2016-03-13/78yo-female-driver-crash-jehovahs-witnesses-church/7243268.
this was in australia, but the khs i've seen (in the us) are designed so that you'd have to almost intentionally want to ram a building to cause this kind of damage.

Oh boy, I think I went on RVs with an old Sister "Magoo" who drove just like that. There must be one at every hall.

I am losing
by NoMoreHustle ini haven't posted anything for a bit, but wanted to express how i am losing this battle.
it has been over 3 years now since i woke up about watchtower.
the battle that i am talking about is the tug of war with my wife (i adore her immensely), watchtower is winning, she simply will not give in to my so-called negative thoughts about the religion that we are in.

You are indeed caught between a rock and a hard place.
Pretend to "go along to get along" or freak her out by being true to yourself.

CLAM - JUNE 2016
by Nicholaus Kopernicus infirst week focuses on utilizing videos in combination with tracts.
for the wtbts, this is a low cost approach to placements and prosyletising.. .
second week focuses on those who are ill. this is somewhat surprising in that the subject was discussed recently in the wt study (dec 15 2015 edition - "jehovah will sustain you") considered at the end of february this year.. .

Can I pick up a New World Translation from the JW London head office?
by Camperdown9 ini'm an anglican and not a jehovahs witness.
what i dislike about lots of church congregations is their readiness to make unpleasant and unhelpful comments about other christian groups.
recently someone in a church tried to tell me a little about the views of jehovahs witnesses.

Jehovahs witnesses have based their whole religion on making "unpleasant and unhelpful comments about other christian groups" they believe that JWs are the one true religion and all non-jehovah's witnesses will be destroyed by God and Jesus at a global apocalypse, so.... if that's not your thing......
Why do you want to know more about this group anyway, are you thinking of joining or are you just curious?
Just asking not judging btw.

Why Faith is Self-Defeating
by cofty inthe god of christian theism values faith.. "without faith it is impossible to please god, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists" - heb.11.
faith and evidence are inversely proportional - the more evidence there is that god exists the less faith you need in that proposition and vice-versa.. so how can a christian criticise any other faith-based belief?
for example they can protest that all the evidence is against the claims of scientology, but that just means that scientologists require more faith than christians.

Well, faith that something will be true before you know it's true does help with confirmation bias, so in that sense the scripture is spot on.
If you have faith in the existence of something or someone before you have absolute proof of it existing then you are more likely to look for and find evidence of proof that it exists and vice-versa. So in a sense the scripture is self fulfilling. Though you have the accounts of the famous "road to damascas" moment for Paul where no such faith (in this case jesus being the messiah) existed first, but it was Paul that was approached not the other way round so apparently faith isn't needed if a heavenly being approaches you. Sort of celestial "don't call me, I'll all you."
So, of cousre anyone is better off going into any investigation completely neutral without any pre-existing bias if their desire is to find truth not confirm wishful thinking. Pretty hard when most people have unconscious leanings in one direction or another.
Also, I understood the scripture quoted to mean that any "faith" would be in the existence of God himself not - faith in your faith in a religion. The word and concept of "faith" is bandied about willy-nilly applied to obviously and ridiculously untrue things - unfortunately.

Has anyone noticed the JW movies are trying to normalise their lifestyle?
by truthseeker inhaving watched the prodigal son returns movie produced by the organization and a recent mini-clip of a brother in london who is shown jogging and doing normal everyday things while wanting to "reach out" it occurred to me that the organization is trying to normalize their bizarre lifestyle and beliefs for the benefit of non-witnesses.. what do i mean by normalization?
they try to make the witnesses look like just another christian denomination who are reasonable while their members live and enjoy normal lives that appear to be within the mainstream.. they do this by not mentioning anything to do with higher education, armageddon or the urgency of the end of the world nor is their discussion or mention of the blood issue.
these are things mentioned often at kingdom halls and in study articles.. watching the prodigal son returns, the family appears to live a normal life, going to meetings and studying.

Why not try and go full "normal" they've been going "full retard" for years.

Hiererchy among elders --so says Kenneth Flodin
by wannaexit inthere has always been a hierarchy among elders.
now it's been validated by kenneth flodin in this talk about the word "princes".
so not any elder can be a prince in the new order.

Sorry boys but there can only be one prince.

Any weapons enthusiasts here?
by Wonderment ini knew i had a couple of firearms around the house, and one in the car.
however, i didn't realize i had seven, yes, seven of them, when i proceeded to count them.
the reason for that is that i haven't gone to the shooting range in years.
-

I was in the archery team in High school does that count? I was a preeetty good shot too, but only as a sport not like a hunger games situation or anything.
