I've said it before and I'll say it again it's as if the whole JW religion was concocted as a massive ongoing social experiment.
so i had my first appointment with a counsellor, of course i explained about being a born in jw, mentally leaving, the penalty of doing so and therefore the mental strain of pretending to be someone i'm not.
her response was that she couldn't help me with that because leaving a cult was a "lifestyle choice".
i tried to say to her that its a cult not a religion and how it brain washed me but no.
Unfortunately many psychologists and counselors haven't got a clue about high control groups.
Maybe she needs to read Combatting Cult Mind Control.

my daughter asked if anyone has heard anything about a 'big announcement' being made sometime this week in congregations in canada and possibly beyond... in her words "it's like a biggggg long thing, they cut out part of the book study for it and people heard it was a historical thing"... any ideas?
could it be the mexican branch closing or the theme of the convention?
or something else?

If something is pre-empted by "big announcement" buzz then it usually is something like
'We are going to change the toilet paper from three ply to two ply to cut costs so keep donating.'
The actual big announcements are buried deep in the middle of a study WT and nobody is awake enough to notice it slipped there.
