Wt has appeared unsustainable for years now but have manage to hold on but then again businesses that appear unsustainable usually are. Time will tell.

Material such as the film at the end of this years convention confirms that I was right to take my kids out the religion
by jambon1 init’s quite affirming to see the horrific material that they’re serving up at the convention this year.
aside from blatant homophobia, the scenes at the end of the convention that are discussed on another thread stoop to new levels of fear mongering.
it seems to occur to nobody inside the organisation that this kind of material could trigger fear, deprsssion, anxiety, stress.

Receiving so much hate recently....
by stuckinarut2 inwell, as you all know, my wife (unstuck) and i are not df or da.. we just stopped attending several years back after my "apostate" online activity was found by a nosey employee of ours while she was working in our office (long story if anyone wants to know - it would have to be another thread).
we never met with any elders - no congregation judicial activity occurred (as we would never consent to do so anyway).
so our policy has been to be the same kind, loving, normal people we have always been.

Doesn't matter how you act or what you say if they have decided you are bad associaton or worse apostate they will interpret everything you do as some kind of ploy. Which when you think about it it is what I would call a strategy - a strategy of how to deal with cult controlled people.
If they behaved like "normal" people and just said "hi how's it going" etc etc when they saw you instead of acting like you are somehow worse than a serial killer for the crime of not going to meetings and you have ebola you/we wouldn't need a "ploy"/strategy to deal with their craziness.
Ps - My strategy now is indifference. Went through all the stages of "dealling with them" fear and running away, anger and seething, chatty and polite, now, I 'm at "not giving a shit."

Janet Jackson music award, she gave credit to which God for her success?
by James Mixon inin her acceptance speech she made her stance on the me too movement, and thanked god for her artistic career.
she stand with women and with those men equally outraged by discrimination who support us in heart and mind.
rebbie and mom (both jw) front row seats when she gave credit to her father for their success, no mention of mom and jehovah.

As far as I'm aware the only Jackson that is JW is the mother.

What Should I Say?
by cookiemaster ini need a bit of advice.
i've been pimo for a long time and fading more and more.
i occasionally attend for family but never give any answers or actively participate in any way.

I think they only get spooked by your behavior if you act cranky and sullen, if you remain happy enough or neutral that seems to delay concern for a while.
My advice would be to just hold your ground politey confident. Non-aceptance of invitations with a "thankyou for the offer maybe next time" seems to work and in the end they seem to stop asking.

i'll study and test it.

Not knowing you or your father, the fact that he asked what material you would use is actually, I think a good question and a good sign, shows he's interested on some level. Or, maybe, he's just humouring you.

Sometimes it's the little things....
by dubstepped ini'm listening to a podcast where a former elder describes how another elder conducted the watchtower study about hyperbole.
the elder called it hyper-bowl.
soon the whole congregation called it hyper-bowl.
-

I remember the WT reader pronouncing simony as sy - mon - ee and everyone else including the WT conductor folowed suit even though he had been pronouncing it simony up til that point.
Yes groupthink, consensus trance and parroting stock responses is one of the most frustrating things about being part of a group that insists everyone think and speak the same, and dare I incur the wrath of the intolerant by saying we even suffer from here sometimes.
ps Our elder was Macedonian and pronounced hyperbole "hyper-balls"!!!

CO asked for everyone 20 years old & younger for a group photo
by LevelThePlayingField inthere was a co visit in ohio a couple weeks ago.
when he was finishing up his sunday talk he said that he would like if "all the children that are from this congregation, not if you're just visiting, but from this congregation to come on up on the stage right after the meeting because i want to get a picture of you.".
i thought to myself, why?

Foetus baptism
by Fay Dehr infoetus baptism - surely coming to a watchtower study article soon?
jw parents are reminded of 2 ti.3:14,14 "from infancy you have known the holy writings".
and the watchtower explains the greek word bre'phos "infancy" as follows: "...it is generally used of an unborn child.

Infancy = unborn child wtf ?
All I can imagine is some Hamdmaid's Tale style ceremony that involves reading scriptures to baby bumps and a bath ??
