Golden anniversary celebration - DF'd kids were there after all
by Bonnie_Clyde ini posted this a couple of weeks ago--upset that the df'd daughter couldn't give the 50th anniversary party for her parents.
i thought that the daughter and her brother would not be invited, but i was wrong.
she was not only there, but her df'd brother drove over 1,000 miles in his motor home hoping to see his parents.

"Was it ever determined why they were 5 hours late?"
Don't know the whole story. There was something about having some grandkids with them, and they were bringing them back. I'm hoping that Grandma had a chance to talk to her son and daughter.
I was happy that my friend, the sister-in-law of the couple, invited the whole family, including those that were disfellowshipped. Oooh! I wonder if this will get to the elders. Well, there were no (active) witnesses there.

I posted this a couple of weeks ago--upset that the DF'd daughter couldn't give the 50th anniversary party for her parents. It was given by the sister-in-law instead. I thought that the daughter and her brother would not be invited, but I was wrong. She was not only there, but her DF'd brother drove over 1,000 miles in his motor home hoping to see his parents. Lots of other "worldly" relatives showed up from out of state bringing gifts. Well the party started at noon, and the golden anniversary couple didn't show up. Everyone was stunned, and there was plenty of conversation about how Grandpa didn't want anything to do with his DF'd children. Finally, about 5 p.m. Grandpa and Grandma decided to drop in. Clyde and I weren't there, but I heard their children stayed out of the way and never had a conversation with their parents--at least with Grandpa. I understand that the Grandma was upset and wanted to see her kids. I hope she did. What a nasty situation....

My wounds opened up badly today
by Maddie inthe past three weeks having been so stressful and very sad.
my ex husband died after being in hospital for just over a week in intensive care.. i was just 18 and he was 21 when we first met and after a whirlwind romance we married 6 months later and have two sons together who are now adults.
although our marriage ended after 25 years and i remarried 7 years ago, he was my first love and i knew him for most of my life.

Maddie, so sorry. Hard to believe they would treat you this way, and you are not even DF'd.
Just pray that they will someday come to their senses.

"listen to counsel and accept discipline".
satan's spirit-his rebellious, contentious attitude-fills today's world.

Thanks for your posts. I finally got a copy of this book. I'm sure they wouldn't want the general public to see this! It's hard to believe, but I went along with this type of reasoning for years.

"Maybe it would be good if you just had a big DF tattooed on my forehead so people would know!!! Oh yeah, I told him too, that he needed to make sure all the people in good standing sit in the front rows!!!!"
I actually remember a sister who wore a badge at the assembly that said she was disfellowshipped.

Gilead teaches that Watchtower Presidents prophetically pointed to!?
by yadda yadda 2 ini read the following on http://governingbodyletters.blogspot.com/search?updated-min=2008-01-01t00%3a00%3a00-08%3a00&updated-max=2009-01-01t00%3a00%3a00-08%3a00&max-results=50.
"it means you are still a babe to the fact that jehovah's witnesses really teach that practically all "faithful" old testament charecters from noah and abraham through elijah and elishah and david to hezekiah are prophetic of the presidents of the watch tower bible and tract society.
the one i refer to the most is as an answer to one of the questions on a gilead test, elijah prophetically pointed to judge rutherford, elisha pointed to n h knorr.

(1961) - "Let Your Name Be Sanctified" - page 335
I remember studying this book. The whole book was pretty much devoted to showing that the faithful and discreet slave was pre-figured by Elijah. When Rutherford died in January 1942, "the Elijah work passed to be succeeded by the Elisha work." Especially interesting is Chapter 18 of this book, but I don't have time to go into it. But when you read between the lines, you realize that Elijah passing the work on to Elisha was the same as Rutherford passing the work on to Knorr.
In fact, it is suggested that there were more than just Knorr. On page 335 it states that "Rutherford was abed on the Pacific Coast in December 1941 (shortly before his death) when two men of the anointed remnant (one since 1913 and one since 1922) and one of the "other sheep" (since 1934) were summoned from Brooklyn headquarters to Rutherford's bedside at the home called "Beth-sarim." I believe the one from 1913 was Fred Franz, the one from 1922 was Knorr, and the "other sheep" guy was Hayden Covington (who later fell out of favor).
I think Raymond Franz commented on this event in one of his books--much more clearly than I

True story - My daughter-in-law works at the local hospital. Last Friday a women came in for a routine diagnostic test and while she was signing, she sneezed and coughed. One of the employees pulled a mask out of a box on her desk and handed it to her.
"What's this for?" she asked.
"You have to wear it, it's hospital regulations, because of the swine flu epidemic."
I WILL NOT wear it," she yelled. "I'll go to another facility before I wear that mask."
"Madam, you have to wear that mask!"
Irately, the woman pointed at the box of masks, "It says right there on that box that those masks came from Mexico!"

Climate Change - Why are only the negative points presented?
by donny ini was reading some articles from the 1960's through the late 1970's where scientists were concerned about global cooling.
the articles talked about how the oceans would become more salty as the ice caps grew larger which would wipe out many types of marine life.
they also mentioned how this would lead to more cool/cold "high deserts" as there would be less water in the atmosphere for rain to develop from.

Hey guys! We should be more concerned about the economy. The way things are going we aren't going to have any manufacturing or vehicles to warm up the atmosphere.
Has anybody considered that volcanoes could be to blame? Glacial melting could be caused by heat from below more than from the atmosphere. Anybody heard of the huge volcano, Krakatoa, in Indonesia that blew up in 1883 and warmed up the climate over much of the world?
