In some ways, I'm almost jealous. These kids figured out it is a sham at age 14--it will be tough, but they still have time to do something with their lives. I made the decision to become a witness at age 14, influenced by uncles and cousins who were in deep. It took awhile, but both of my parents became witnesses as well, my father an elder. 50 years later, I went to my last meeting and was trying to do a "slow fade" so as not to upset my father. He got upset anyway, and now my daughter and my cousins want nothing to do with me--although not DF'd.

I bought my mother a birthday cake. My daughter told the elders, and I had to talk to the elders. Managed to smooth talk my way out of it.

The Dictonary of JW's
by highdose injw's are very fond of taking words and making them mean somthing completly different.
i thought it might be interesting to compile these.
of course every other worldly dictonary will say that the word mean somthing different... but brothers and sisters!

Seems like there was a thread some time ago with definitions of JW terms. Don't have time to research now. But it would be fun to put all the information together.

2010 DC" Remain in Gods Love"...Most Unloving Yet??
by JWFreak inthe talk outlines for the summers conventions are only being printed over the next 2 weeks or so.. the finished outlines were ready in the middle of december 2009, however sources that i trust tell me that at least 5 of the talks were returned for last minute rewriting which is highly unusual.
this has held up the printing until now, a delay of over a month.
this is a fact!!.

About 1981 one of Clyde's friends told him that he heard from his mother-in-law's husband who was a circuit overseer that the organization was going to start cracking down. Sounded like a rumor, but sure enough, as you all know there was a big crack down. When I heard of a rash of disfellowshippings, I concluded it was because there was a lot of wickedness that had to be cleaned out of the organization. Now I know differently. This is a "wait and see", but I would say, "brace yourselves." They MUST keep the organization clean.

This is insane. It's not in my Bible.
According to the Bible, A.D. 1914 is a fixed date.
I remember this article. I think it was in response to the "apostate" crackdown in the early 80's. I remember referring to the Beroeans as a reason to question the WT--after all if it was Ok to question Paul, why not the WT? Well they squelched that.....
*** w81 2/15 pp. 18-19 Do We Need Help to Understand the Bible? ***
But does this mean that those Beroeans were looking for flaws in the message they were hearing, or that their attitude was one of doubting? Does this set a precedent for regarding critically the publications brought forth by the "faithful and discreet slave," with a view to finding fault? Not at all! -

Another step towards artificial life: Evolution of molecules in laboratory
by bohm inhey!.
i just read this today, a professor gerald joyce has created small, very simple 'dead' molecules that are able to replicate themselves if placed amongst other dead molecules and (here it gets interesting) are able to accumulate mutations and become better at replicating themselves.
joyce estimate about 30 bits of information is passed along to each 'generation.

"The next 50 years are going to be very interesting. Personally, if you had asked me 5 years ago i would have said life is so unlikely it is properly a 1-planet-in-a-galaxy-event. Today, it does not seem impossible it will happend in the laboratory over the next 100 years. Exiting times. wonder how this will go down with those who believe in creation and nothing else."
OK, I'm no scientist, but if they are able to accumulate positive mutations (that are not alive) only under laboratory conditions, what are the chances that life could have happened just by chance with no laboratory conditions? I still believe in a Creator. I'm sure most of you will disagree.

Life On Hold: The CO Visit Week
by sacolton indid anyone have to cancel a vacation trip because it was on co visit week?
i still don't get why the co visit was as if god himself was in town.
is it kinda like if the pope were to visit with catholics?.

When I was newly married, we had the CO and wife stay at our house. I was trying to go in service a lot that week although I had a new baby so I didn't have much time for meal preparation. One meal that I gave them was a TV dinner. They didn't complain....

Volunteering
by Quillsky innow that you, as a former jw, have a few evenings and some weekend time freed up, and "charity" is no longer a dirty word, ........ do you do any kind of volunteer work?.
i'm seriously thinking about it..

Bonnie_Clyde
Clyde and I joined a local Moose Lodge. At first it was just because the meals were inexpensive, we could meet more of our neighbors--but now we are also volunteering in some of their many charitable programs.

Ten to one...if you showed this site to a die-hard JW, they would agree with everything.
