Latest SAD--More Higher Ed Bashing. Did you know it's one of Satan's False Refuges?
by Cadellin inwell, folks, this little mermaid just got back from the sad she had to attend w/her husband so as to keep a measure of peace (we're in the process of working out compromises...you know how it goes) i was pretty mad by the end of the day (thank god it ended at 4:00) mostly because i learned some new things that i would never have guessed in a million years.. did you know that satan is setting up artificial "refuges" as a counterfeit to jehovah's "true refuge"which is...his organization???
now satan's "false refuges" are pretty damn bad, like, for instance, "independent thinking.
" no, siree bob, we don't want none of that!!

More KS-10 'Shepherding' instruction LTR
by yknot inwhile i at this moment don't have my hands on a scan and very dear 'anonymouse brother' wishes for the forum to know as a 'heads up'!.
here is the 'gist' of the ltr until we get an actual scan ..... apparently some elders want to have their books spiral bound.
the branch has sent out specific instructions that it can be done only by an elder for other elders.

A baptized brother can perform the binding work if an elder is watching him. However "outside companies, unbelivers, and sisters are not permitted to perform this work".
Interesting that they would allow a non-elder (baptized) brother do the binding as long as there is an elder watching but not even a baptized sister would be allowed to do it.

No wonder the Witnesses deny it happened. Many today just do not want to remember. Talk about having a selective memory
Another term could be "Collective Amnesia."

Selling homes and property - pre-1975
by Bonnie_Clyde ini just had a discussion with a relative who attended the district convention.
he gave me the booklet, "keep on the watch.
" according to him, the speaker who introduced the booklet talked about the people who were stumbled because of the change in understanding regarding "this generation.

In hindsight do you regret having this conversation with your son in law?
Yes and no. Up until that day, I had kept my mouth shut, but I think eventually something would have come out, and the results would have been the same. A good thing that came from it was that the son mentioned above and his wife both left the borg (our other son was already on his way out). Clyde and I both have a even stronger relationship with them. We all live nearby and we see each other almost every day, looking after each other's needs. We know that our grandchildren will never have to endure the torture of growing up in the "truth."
But there isn't a day that goes by that I think about our daughter. I don't have any idea how she is doing. And I have a touch of guilt knowing that I raised her in the religion. I guess that's why I keep coming on this site, knowing that others have had similar experiences.

I didn't reveal it at the time, but the relative I had this conversation with was actually my son-in-law and my daughter. The result of our 10-minute conversation was that I completely lost the good relationship I previously had with them along many other relatives including my father. I have not seen or talked to my daughter since my father's funeral in 2007 even though we only live 10 miles from one another. Even though I occasionally send an email or a card, I get complete silence.
In a conversation with her brother (my son), she brought up what I said about 1975, and my son reminded her that he remembered when he was 7 years old (1974), she told him she wanted to get baptized before 1975 as she knew Armageddon was coming (she was age 9). She denied ever saying that.

Your experience with your wife could be me. Clyde saw the truth about the "truth" a long time before I did, and I now I really don't want to remember the heartache and pain. But it caused a big rift. I remember one statement he made when I mentioned the "faithful slave." He reminded me that Matt. 24:47 didn't guarantee that the slave would be faithful. He read the rest of the scripture, "If ever that evil salve should say in his heart, 'My master is delaying,' and should start to beat his fellow slaves and drink with the confirmed drunkards, the master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect and in an hour that he does not know, and will punish him with the greatest severity and will assign him his part with the hypocrites."
That scripture did bother me for quite some time, but it took something else to really shake me.....the way the congregation treated my elderly parents.
All I can say is, thank God you have JWN. Clyde didn't have that as a support. You have some great friends here and you are getting some great advice. I just hope you can stick it out. I'm glad Clyde did, but I'm so sorry for all the frustration and unhappiness he went through. We have a much better relationship now, and we try not to look back at how much better it could have been.

Summer Assembly and Botox
by GrandmaJones inanother no-no from the wt.
this was obviously some sort of manuscript talk, i was there and heard it at the st. louis assembly and asked around, and i know it was at other district conventions.
what business is this for the fds to be in, not a scriptual affair at all.

I also suppose next they will have a talk against trying to lose weight, even if one is genuinely morbidly obese.
I remember several years ago that one of the elders attended a school and when he came back he told the congregation that the subject of Weight Watchers came up. They stated that it was not appropriate and that people should just use their will power.
None of their business.

"There's really no good reason why we should turn our time in late"
by Crisis of Conscience inanother wonderful part this week at the meeting.
and this is what the brother said.. he related examples, based on the om book, as to how jehovah kept records.
funny part is, they all applied to population, the amount of people.. is there any part of the bible that talks about how jehovah kept a log of hours on some occasion?

According this the drama at this summer's Discrap Crapvention, the Christians who evidently fled to Pella, also evidently kept attendance records for their five weekly meetings and turned in their field service records of hours, placements, and return visits... on time.
Did they really say that during the drama? Hours, placements, return visits?
