Diamondiiz - I agree. I've heard that gold could hit $5,000 in the near future. Maybe that's why so many people want to buy your gold.

Sisters no allowed in KH period!
by life is to short ini just found out during the elders school sisters are not allowed in the kh for any reason.
i have a girlfriend that i became really close to when i was at bethel.
we really were as close as real sisters, in fact i am still closer to her then my own flesh and blood jw sister but with my leaving the jw's it has been hard, she does not have a clue about my true feelings of this cult, i have tried to throw points out to her and she will not get them, she will not let her mind go there.. .

That might be because they don't want the sisters to see the secret elder's manual.

Thanks Leolaia for resurrecting this thread. I wonder if anyone has ever come up with a tape recording.

JW sister tells me about 1975- amnesia strikes again!
by moshe inshe came in the jw world in 1966 with her mother- she was 6 years old.
she graduated from high school in 1976. during the 90 minutes i spent with her yesterday, she mentioned that the org never said the end was coming in 1975-" it was just a few who said that and they all left after 1976- which was good- because jah needed to cleanse the kh of all who were serving with just a date in mind.. i asked her, "don't you remember the assembly talk from 1969 or 1970, where the speaker said, "stay alive until 75"- no she didn't remember.. i explained that our kh had a co tell us from the platform," brothers there is only 18 months left until armageddon- wow, she exclaimed.. i continued my story, "the po's 16 year old son quit school in 1974- to become a regular pioneer- he was held up as a fine example in the cong- and used as an example at a circuit assembly that year of someone who putting jehovah's work first.
didn't you have some who quit school to pioneer back then?".

Those "few" were DO's, CO's, and elders. Here are a couple of the answers I've gotten over the years regarding 1975:
Father: Sister D was telling everybody Armageddon was coming in 1975. It was her fault.
Brother: The Society hinted once that it could be 1975, and then the news media got ahold of it and blew it out of proportion.
Son-in-law: Our family came into the truth in 1975 and never heard anything about it (they were getting cold feet by then).
Daughter: It never happened.

WTS: creative days took aeons - WT Feb 15th, 2011
by undercover inthere's already a couple of threads discussing this particular issue of kool-aid version of the wt, but i just had to start another after reading about the creative days mentioned in this issue.. we debate from time to time if the wts has ever officially retracted their doctrine that the earth and all things created are less than 50,000 years old.
there's been some quotes that show them waffling on the age of the planet itself but still sort of holding to the notion of all creation happening within a defineable 7 day period.
how long is a creative day?

Smiddy - that's how I understood it too. I thought it made sense.

Start preparing now for 2011 memorial night demonstration ! Sunday, April 17, 2011, after sundown
by koolaid-man innow is a good time to start making preparations for the memorial night demonstration at your kingdom hall sunday, april 17, 2011, after sundown.
the evils of the watchtower org.have to be exposed and this is an ideal time to do it.
many around the world have been adversely affected by their association with jehovah's witnesses.

I thought the memorial was Thursday, April 7, 2011. Never heard of it being as late as April 17.

WHAT IF YOU HAD NEVER LEFT !!!
by warmasasunned ini am sure that this question as been asked before.
when i think of my life now,a lovely kind beautiful wife, two happy healthy kids, good job, nice home, real friends.
yes since i left the jws almost twenty years ago i can honestly say i have lived my life.. when i eventually left the death by bordem cult ... i had nothing, a loveless marraige i only stayed in because of the jws, no friends, no home to call my own, in debt, i had a wife who was so depressed she shooped to make herself happy.

One thing's for sure. My marriage to Clyde would be over. It was almost over as it was because I was far behind him in fading, and he was about ready to lose it. Strange how things work out. I would have lost Clyde, but I wouldn't have lost my father, brother, daughter, son-in-law, niece, and several cousins. But I have a stronger relationship with my two sons and their wives.

what flipflops caused you to think?
by cheerios inwhile posting on another thread, i thought of this.
for me, it was the "we never said you couldn't go to college" flipflop in the mid 1990s.
when ofc we all know that to be an utter lie.. now that i think about it, their literature is written with future flipflopping mind.

Alternative service - I read the WT article, early 1998, about "Feelings of having suffered needlessly" and it justified the brothers who had suffered imprisonment for not going into the military rather than accepting alternative service. I remember mentioning to Clyde that I'd have been ticked if I had to go to prison and later find out that it wasn't really necessary. That year I started reading the WT more critically and gave more attention to what was said in the talks at the KH.
When I finally began investigating on the Internet, my belief system started toppling like dominoes.
