I haven't had time to read all the threads. But I'm wondering if the CD's will continue to be released at the rest of the district assemblies this summer? Do you think the WT realizes that they goofed by bring out this CD?

The significance of Sparlock
by botchtowersociety inthe watchtower has depicted sparlock as a commercial plastic toy to be thrown into the garbage with impunity.. i submit to you all that he is something far greater.
sparlock represents all the hopes and dreams of jw children everywhere.
he is the magic of childhood.

Who or what are you most angry at, when it comes to your situation in relation to JW Org?
by BreathoftheIndianNose ini've been receiving very bitter messages from jws i know, mostly my mother, but also others that know how to contact me electronically.
sometimes i find myself mad at her, though not displaying it.
but i know it's really not her or my fathers fault.

I'm angry that I didn't get the education which I could easily have had--I had the grades where I could have even had a scholarship. Perhaps I could forgive the Org for this as it was many years ago, but they haven't changed--at least not for long. My daughter-in-law could have been an RN but didn't because of the "wise" counsel of the elders. She now has a fairly decent job at our local hospital, but is in danger of losing it because she doesn't have a degree. We'll know by tomorrow.

Nothing about looking after the needs of the sick, elderly, widows, children or those who have fallen on hard times. Nothing about manifesting love to one another.
Just numbers, territory coverage, appearance of Kingdom Hall, and problems in the congregation.

Kids on Leashes at Conventions.
by Diest indid you ever see those parents with kids on leashes at conventions?
i always disliked it and thought it was wierd/lazy...granted i have never been a parent so maybe i dont know.
video reminded me how silly/messed up those leashes are.. .

I put my 2-year old son on a leash at an assembly. He loved the leash when he was home, hated it at the assembly--or maybe it was just the assembly he hated. Anyway, it's a lot better than losing your child.

Field Service Reports Count More than Showing Love - Ray Franz CF Book
by flipper ini've always suspected this was the wt society's view when i was in the jehovah's witness organization - but never knew the head of the writing committee karl adams had written a letter to nathan knorr ( then wt president ) recommending a change regarding reporting field service time as it wrongly emphasized jw members being seen as mainly being approved due to field service statistics - instead of emphasizing christian qualities of love, kindness, peace, etc.. karl adams had been personally handpicked by nathan knorr to be the head of the writing department.
in 1971 he wrote a letter to knorr which he wanted shared with the entire governing body as well .
i'll share the main parts of that letter.. on pg.

About twelve years ago I was visited by two elders who were concerned about my not turning in field service time. I explained I was spending countless hours helping my father take care of my mother besides working full time. Their reply, "Well that's all well and good, but we have to go out to look for people who have no hope." To this day I regret not saying, "My mother (and my father) keep HOPING that somebody will come by to visit them." The witnesses would go down my parents' street, but skip their house because they couldn't count their time.
Another time my father was at a book study, and the conductor was making field service arrangements. My father commented that if he count his time taking care of my mother he could be a special pioneer. I asked my father if anybody offered to come stay with my mother so he could go out in service, and he said "no." That's when I realized what the WT was all about--just numbers.

It Was Never Enough
by Bangalore infound this on another site a few years back.. .
it was never enough.. i remember the first time as a kid i comprehended that i could never do enough for the organization.. a circuit overseer was giving a talk and said,:.
sunday is meeting, and since you are dressed up you might as well do some field service after the meeting.. monday you should spend an hour or so in the evening preparing for the book study on tuesday.. tuesday is book study.. wednesday should be time for your family study, personal study, or preparation for all three.

I remember all that. Let me add--we can do an hour of field service (perhaps some return visits) before the book study since we are all dressed up anyway. Our book study used to be from 8 to 9 pm so we could easily fit in some time between getting home from work and the meeting.

6/15 WT - WT Society can Run it's Business - but JW's Can't Have their Own
by flipper inin the typical do as we say , not as we do type mentality - the wt society puts forth in this current wt study article ( jw's only wt ) - that it's not " advisable " or " reasonable " for jehovah's witnesses to seek entering their own business ventures , or further themselves by getting a college education, or even have a career - due to the imminent coming of the alleged " end of the system " or alleged " paradise " .
the guilt and control used here is ridiculous.
in the article titled , " why put jehovah's service first ?

Maybe next there will be an article about not working at any job.
" Do you think it would have been reasonable for Noah and his family to focus their efforts on FINDING A JOB , getting ahead among their contemporaries....Knowing what lay ahead, they avoided such DISTRACTIONS . "
I bet the government took care of Noah and his family.

Are you approved to report (from the km for july)
by therevealer inyes indeedy.
if you are fortunate enough to be approved you can report (as in be allowed to report) 15-minute increments.
i knew that older ones, for example, were encouraged to report even the smallest amount of service and the cong.
-
Bonnie_Clyde
I was once told by the elders that I was approved to report 15 minutes - after I told them how taking care of my sick mother was taking up all my time and that's why I was not reporting time in field service.

Has anyone ever used a non-NWT (New World Translation) bible at meetings / study?
by biometrics inabout 1 year ago (before i faded), i purchased an old king james bible from ebay and started using it in the meetings and when a brother came over to study with me.. a common reaction of fellow jws was to stare at the bible, then say "what type of bible is that?
", then they'd sometimes ask to look at it, and flip to john 1:1. when they saw what it said, they'd treat it like it was apostate material, even though a few decades earler it was the same bible jws used.. i strongly encourage any lurkers/faders to use another bible at the meetings and see what type of reactions you get.. .

Back when we had circuit assemblies at high schools, we had a book stand where we could buy various translations of the Bible--Moffats, The Bible in Living English, Douay, etc. Almost all the Bibles I have on my bookshelf were purchased at circuit assemblies--but that was back in the 60's, maybe early 70's. When I started going in field service in 1956, we didn't even have a complete New World Translation so we usually used the American Standard Version (sometimes King James). We liked the American Standard because it used the name "Jehovah" in the Old Testament (Hebrew Scriptures).
