You do know that Armageddon will be here before the end of the millenium. Remember the millenium brochure from a couple of years ago?

Have JW's and Born-Agains been taking for a ride with Armaggeddon/Rapture?
by booker-t ini have been seriously thinking that jw's and born-again christians have both been victims of the armaggeddon/rapture merry go round.
christians have been looking for the rapture for 2000 years and still nothing has happened.
jw's have been looking for armaggeddon for over 130 years now and still nothing has happened.

Believe it or not--the article was on the front page of the Sunday paper. Don't know how it could have been that important.

Penny is not a JW now, but she was raised a JW along with her three sisters and one brother. I believe only one sister is still in. Longo was a ministerial servant in Ypsilanti, Michigan, until at least 1998. He was removed when it was discovered that he was passing bad checks, etc., and soon disfellowshipped.

"Awareness of our spiritual need moves us to read the Bible daily (JWs who do not should not feel guilty), to absorb spiritual food dispensed "at the proper time" by "the faithful and discreet slave" and to..."
This sentence could be taken that the Bible is written by the "faiathful and discreet slave."

That scripture in Deuteronomy 25:11,12 has been used to prove that it is wrong for a man to have a vasectomy. They used it over thirty years ago, and the witnesses that I knew were very strict about following the rule. Over the years I noticed that gradually it was forgotten until a Questions from Readers brought it up three or four years ago. Don't have time to research the article right now, but I remember that there were some exceptions.

Celebrites in the Borg
by what_Truth? ini was wondering how many famous actors, musicians, and other public figures either are jw's or became jw's at some point in their life.
eveyone knows about prince{b], and michael jackson, but i've also heard that they snagged up george benson, a former indian prime minister and rapper dres of the group the black sheep.
obviously this will be a short list since the society doesn't do much to encourge any kind of success, especially not the kind that will leave you with millions of adoring fans.

The December 22, 2004, Awake has a story about a celebrity. Her name is Rosalia Phillips. Phillips may be her married name. She has performed with Arturo Castro and His Castros 76 in Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela, New York, and Lals Vegas. She was also in a soap opera. She was also on the Hispanic version of Sesame Street. She was plagued by feelings of guilt through much of her career, but finally broke away and married a Bethelite, pioneered, served at the Mexican Bethel, and now has two small children being raised in the "truth."

I have read so much about not being able to celebrate Thanksgiving as a witness.
We have had family dinners at Thanksgiving for over forty years, and there has never been a problem from the elders. We don't necessarily say it is Thanksgiving, we just let our family know that dinner will be at our house on that day (it's a day off of work). We always have turkey and all the trimmings (turkey is always on sale this time of year).
Of course, Christmas is another matter. We wouldn't dare.

There is NO annual service report in the Janaury 1st WT
by truthseeker inwell, i have confirmed rumors that have gone around about there being no annual service report for the january 1st, 2005 issue.. .
it seems, for reasons unknown, that the watchtower has ended another decades long tradition.
in the second study article for the january 1st, 2005 watchtower, entitled, "trained to give a thorough witness," paragraph 24 reads: .

I was talking to a dub about it, and he thinks it is because of the way the Society now ships the literature. Since it takes extra time to ship the literature to the assembly halls, then a brother from each hall has to go pick up the literature, and distribute it to the congregation, that the Society has been making up the lag in time by printing the magazines earlier, thus the delay from January 1 to February 1. Does that make any sense?

Closing Days at Beth-Sarim: By November (1941) Brother Rutherford's critical illness had gained ground and he was compelled to have an operation at Elkhart, Indiana. Thereafter he expressed a desire to go to California. So he was taken to a San Diego residence known as "Beth-Sarim." For some time it was apparent to his associates and the best medical experts that he could not recover.
Briefly it may be said that Brother Rutherford had a severe case of pneumonia after his release from unjust imprisonment during 1918-1919 because of his faithfulness to Jehovah. Thereafter he had only one good lung. It was virtually impossible for him to remain in Brooklyn, New York, during the winter and still carry out his duties as the Society's president. In the 1920's he went to San Diego under a doctor's treatment. The climate there was exceptionally good and the doctor urged him to spend as much time as possible in San Diego. That is what Rutherford did ultimately.
In time, a direct contribution was made for the purpose of constructing a house in San Diego for Brother Rutherford's use. It was not built at the expense of the Watch Tower Society. Concerning this property, the 1939 book Salvation stated; "At San Diego, California, there is a small piece of land, on which, in the year 1929, there was built a house, which is called and known as Beth-Sarim."
Sister Hazel Burford was one of the nurses who cared for Brother Rutherford during his final illness at Beth-Sarim, where he was taken in November 1941. She tells us: "We had the interesting times, for he got to where he would sleep all day and then all night long he was busy with the Society's business and kept us on the move." One morning about the middle of December three brothers, including Brother Knorr, arrived from Brooklyn. Sister Burford recalls. "They spent several days with him going over the annual report for the Yearbook and other organizational matters. After their departure, Brother Rutherford continued to weaken and, about three weeks later, on Thursday, January 8, 1942, he faithfully finished his earthly course and graduated into fuller service privileges in the courts of his heavenly Father."
I'm confused. Was there another house on the property before the house was built in 1929? If not, where did Rutherford expect the "princes" of old to stay when they were expected to come back in 1925? Also, if the Watch Tower Society did not pay for the house, who did?
The Yearbook mentions three brothers who visited Rutherford but only names Brother Knorr. The other two were Fred Franz and Hayden Covington. Ray Franz mentioned in one of his books that Rutherford gave the implication that prophecy was being fulfilled, that the "Elijah" work was finishing and the "Elisha" work was about to begin. Freddy fancied himself as being the primary one who was following in Elisha's footsteps.
I'm sure glad that Rutherford is enjoying service privileges in the courts of his heavenly father. Hope he doesn't discover that he is being exposed on the internet.

Exodus 23:14-17 You CAN celebrate Thanksgiving. !!
by hubert init's right here, in the nwt bible.... .
exodus 23:14...."three times in the year, you are to celebrate a festival to me".. exodus 23:16...."also, the festival of harvest of the first ripe fruits of your labors, of what you sow in the field.
and the festival of ingathering at the outgoing of the year", when you gather in your labors from the field".. so, on the third thursday of november, we celebrate the "feast of the ingathering" by dedicating this day to giving thanks to god for the food and all the blessings we have enjoyed throughout the year.. it's right there in their bible, so why won't they celebrate it?

In our family we have always had a Thanksgiving dinner, even inviting the loyal members. We don't call it Thanksgiving, but we have turkey and all the trimmings. After all, turkeys are on sale this time of year. No one has complained so far. It's a day off work.
