607 date of Jerusalems destruction
by benny ini am confused about the time scale regarding the year of the destruction of jerusalem.
in the 1st october 2011 watchtower an argument is presented to back up 607 bc but there are so many conflicting arguments that this happened 20 years later according to secular sources.

I have not be to a kh in probably 6 years or so, I will not be going back.
At the same time, there are alot of people I miss, friends who would have done anything to help me. They obviously do not feel the same way anymore, but I do miss them, I hope they wake up, i hope they see what is going on.
I hate what I was taught, but at the same time, certain qualities that were stressed since i was young have benefitted me with my friends and professionally. I think I might be rambling, but I think most people in life are good, and that includes alot of jws, I just wish they could see the big picture.
I know those who have left jws have happiness and freedom, I know I do, but I would absolutely be lying if I said I didn't miss my old friends.

Fisherman I am pretty sure there is no guarantee for privacy in a first time pm. Anything we put on the Internet has the possibility of getting out.
I can understand why morph would post those questions because it seems like you were interrogating him. Alot of people here have had bad experiences with being interrogated by a group of men, I don't know about morph, but I can understand him getting defensive.
I hope you enjoy your time here there are some interesting individuals and some good discussions to be had by all.

Yeah this WT read like a bad joke. There are no types or anti types, we can't force complex understandings of simple parables, oh and btw we are the faithful and discreet slave since 1919 and we are becoming "more discreet" then before. it's getting pretty sad.
I think they are just putting random ideas on a board and they take turns throwing darts to see what to print next.

Shirley, thank you for the proclaimers quote. the watchtowers own words provide more damaging testimony against itself, then anything it's staunchest detractors could write.
i will have these quotes saved for a long time thank you.

by sowhatnow inobviously they feel a window washer job is a job anyone can do anywhere in he world .

i sense a lot of disdain for labor intensive jobs on this site, which I can understand because there are so many here that regret not getting a college education.
With that said a skilled carpenter, electrician, or any other skilled tradesman can make a good living and support a family. I wish I would have gone to college, but that was not an option for me, fortuantely I was able to find work in a unique field, unfortunately it is labor intensive. We really should not be knocking these trades jobs, we need to respect all people that work hard for a living.

Wal-Mart Workers Plan Huge Protest on Black Friday
by talesin inwal-mart, which pays a top wage of $12.00+ to its full-time employees, is under attack, once again, by its employees and those who would like to unionize them.. i can't speak to the usa, but here in canada, most wal-mart employees are not full time.
it is mostly a part-time employer, so zero benefits.
in my opinion, that makes the $12.00+ look a lot smaller when you envision the actual paycheque.

Should adults working full time receive a living wage for their efforts? absolutely. Let the nations largest employers pay the wages, not the taxpayers supporting food stamps and subsidized housing.

This should be an interesting book to read
by Doug Mason ini have not yet read this book, but it should be interesting:.
"the better angels of our nature: why violence has declined", steven pinker.. the publicity blurb states:.
"believe it or not, today we may be living in the most peaceful moment in our species' existence.

hello everyone just wanted to give a litte update on my leaving JWs. i was an active ms up till the beginning of this year and things were going pretty good up till now. my wife is active and that has been tough but we were managing.
two months ago my older brother passed of a sudden heart attack. he left behind a wife and two young children. he was quite a bit older then me so i didnt grow up with him during my teenage years and he was inactive in my early 20s, so i was never as close as i felt i should be. we started to reconnect a litte bit the last few years as i moved closer to him, but this has been a shock that i am really having trouble dealing with. im not an emotional person and cannot remember the last time i've cried but during the week after his death i really had trouble keeping it together, crying often.
i feel so bad for my sister in law and my neices, i live a few miles from them thankfully, but i still feel like i can never be over enough. i am having a hard time finding a balance between work, taking care of myself,(my brother had high bp, and so do i, its genetics, im in fairly decent shape), and taking care of daily affairs, and having a social life.
then, fast forward to this week, my wife and i will be going through a divorce. she has a had a hard time with my changes, she has listened to some of the facts i have shared with her, but, utlimately was not convinced. we had a calm discussion, but both came to the conclusion we are going seperate ways. is it better to get a divorce when you don't hate each other, but simply want to avoid the inevitable conflicts?
i dont fully know how i feel about this idea of divorce. clearly i am not the man she married, we both have different goals, and we are fairly young to start over in life. my main concern is my wife during this transition, she works, but makes barely enough to surivive on her own. we have talked and neither want to get lawyers involved but, i feel i need to help her financially still because i feel responsible for the break up. it seems to be the only solution, and if i am completely honest i think i need to sever all ties with this organization. at the same time i never intended to hurt anyone, and it makes me ill to think i might make my wife struggle in life now.
yeah, it has been a difficult last two months, i would appreciate any advice you have. this forum has been very helpful.
