If the woman stays in, she enjoys the sympathy and support from all who pity her "terrible" situation having to live with an evil apostate or faded husband...
That "poor soul" routine works wonders for many "sisters"
having seen many, many people leave the org over the years, i have to say that, when it comes to married couples, it's almost always the man who makes the first move to leave.
conversely, when it comes to being converted into the witnesses, more often than not it's the wife who joins up first.
although that wasn't the case with my own parents, my father became converted and my mother followed very reluctantly..

like many others, our local church produces a newsletter.
church car park sign... “for members only.
trespassers will be baptised”.. a sunday school teacher asked, “johnny, do you think noah did a lot of fishing when he was in the ark?” “no,” replied johnny, “how could he, with just two worms?”.
I saw one sign on a church years ago:
"Attend here on Sunday, or have a Hell of a time instead"
the statement in the article "who is leading gods people today?
" in the feb 17th study edition of the wt is very interesting.. it states: ""the g.b.
is neither inspired nor infallible" ..we can err .in doctrinal matters....".
The reality is, it doesn't matter about the specific teachings...
The REAL issue is: OBEY the GB in all things.
a random thought occurred to me today.. i actually feel genuinely sorry for witnesses who cut contact with ones they feel are no longer "spiritual" .. they do this based not on anything that the person has actually done to them personally, but due to an imposed view from the society.. it must play havoc with their inner conscience as they try and reconcile that the person they cut off has not actually done anything to harm them, but they have to view them as evil.. it reminded me of this thread i started some time back.

is anyone here familiar with the facebook group "jehovah's people: enduring these last days together"?
it's a closed group, so obviously you need to be a member in order to access any info or posts.
my anointed roommate is really frustrated because she's an admin and someone is taking miscellaneous posts from the group and posting it on their own page, which has the exact same name, minus the word "together.
Hasn't your "anointed roommate" heard that her "spiritual brothers" the GB have condemned all such online groups??
She is rebelling against such glorious ones and should be counselled by her elders for disobeying "theocratic direction"!
so if the gb changed its "bible based beliefs" on some teaching, would witnesses all of a sudden change their individual beliefs too?.
witnesses like to claim that "their bible trained hearts and minds" make them believe as they do, but we know that the reality is that all witnesses hold their "deep seated beliefs" according to what they have been told to believe.. so what would cause the average witness to question those that dictate their "personal convictions"??.
thoughts?.
Great replies everyone!
Yes I know there have been many changes already over the years.
So I am wondering what it would REALLY take for a witness to wake up and question the authority?

the society claims to be jehovah gods sole channel on earth - his spokesman.. if any witness disagrees with this claim, they are branded as an apostate and punished.. but the society has made countless errors over the century, and repeatedly changed doctrines and beliefs.
not to mention the appalling foundation teachings of the organisation's teachings!
so a simple question: is god making msistakes and getting things wrong, or is this proof that the society is not guided by god?.
Great comments!!
Keep them coming!
one thing i've never understood is judicial committees.
yes, i understand it's held to see if elders should go through with the disfellowshipping process.
but why give them all the power?
Don't play by their rules, or give them any power over you.
Simply "treat them as one of he nations" and ignore the requests to meet!
If they keep sending such requests, remind them "of appropriate boundaries, and their need to respect your privacy"

Seriously, the society can't have its cake and eat it too! Which is it?
The bible claims "that God is the same yesterday and today" and there is "not a variation". His "ways are perfect" etc....
So which is it??
