Special Talk During the Meeting Today About the Bad Press in Canada
by RobertT18 ini was invited to a congregation in ontario, canada today and as soon as the meeting opened the brother conducting the meeting said there was a very important statement coming from the borg.
this talk replaced the two last parts of "living as a christian" section.
he started reading a letter from the borg about how much they loved us.

Seriously disturbing stuff!
To try and spin this as "satanic propaganda" is downright manipulative and wrong!
As Honest said above, please send that letter to the Aust Royal Commission. They are the nicest people to talk to, and would welcome this sort of thing, as it gives an insight into the reality of how the society distorts facts.

Geoffrey Jackson, Deuteronomy 18:22
by Spoletta innot sure if this has been commented on, but while reading a discussion, deuteronomy 18:22 was mentioned.
i looked it up, and was struck by its connection to a remark made by geoffrey jackson during his arc testimony.
the gist of the scripture is that if a prophet declares something is from god and it doesn't come true, he is speaking presumptuously, and should not be feared.

Semantics really....
While they may not say they are "prophets" , they do say that they are "gods channel" and the only organisation "chosen by God".
So no matter how they spin it, they claim to speak for god.
That is no different to a "Prophet"

My JW Sister Called Me Last Night
by pale.emperor inmy sister called me quite out of the blue last night.
she's a full on active jw and actively shunning me like the rest of the family are.
i dont quite know the reason why she felt last night was the right time to call but im glad she did.

Yes, it is mind numbingly and astoundingly frustrating to try and reason with people who have a closed mind...or a "brainwashed mind"
And yes, it's outstanding to believe that we once were the same....arrogantly convinced that we alone "had the TRUTH"

Have the Elders ever been instructed by their bethel to call the police for abuse?
by StephaneLaliberte inright now, there are a lot of talks on this topic in quebec and, at the mid week meeting, they are reading the letter sent in 2002 where it states that the elders will call the authorities if the law forces them to.
the strange thing is, it looks like even when there are laws to that effect, jws seem to believe that it does not apply to them.
for instance, i know that they do not report anything in quebec, even if it is the law!

Why should it take a LAW to make people report such things?
Would it not be reasonable that the (god-given) conscience should prompt someone to report?
If one heard of an attempted or actual murder, does that need a LAW to prompt someone to report to the police??

but all the women children that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.. *sigh*.
it's not that i haven't seen this passage before.

Yes!
When we start seeing these accounts as they truly are: Disturbing and Disgusting, there is simply no excusing it!
If someone acted like that today, witnesses would rightly condemn him...so why not then?
After all, isn't there a scripture that says "Jehovah is the same always. He never changes"?
