All About The Words We Used
by dubstepped inin the time since i've left the borg behind i've had a few things hit me as to how words were used.
i'm wondering if anyone else has some similar examples, but here are some things that have made me think:.
watchtower - my whole life i saw this as a thing of protection from outside evil forces, and then when i left someone pointed out "isn't that what they used to keep people in prison".

So if the Holy Spirit is supposedly directing the organization, why did it allow God's organization to have the spotlight shone on it??
Yep...for any Witnesses out there, perhaps the answer is that Jehovah is bringing to light the deeply ingrained wrong culture of "his" organization and its leaders??!!

Has your name or reputation been maligned by the Witness gossip-mill?
by stuckinarut2 inas we all know, witnesses routinely share in gossiping, slandering or maligning the name and reputation of those who are "spiritually weak" or ones who "fade" or "stop associating".. they feel it is ok to speak badly of such ones who "have left jehovah's organization".. of course, some of the worst perpetrators of this are elders and their wives, who insidiously plant negative stories in the minds of all they interact with in the congregation.
they may never have actual facts, but since when do facts matter to witnesses?
however through such conduct they manage to separate people from one another, or cause rifts amongst former friends.. this sort of conduct is plainly inappropriate.. but what scriptures could be used if the opportunity arose to confront such ones about the way they have behaved?.

The re-writing of digital history....JW.org style. Interesting clip.
by stuckinarut2 inwe all know that one of the major advantages the society now has with everything being on its official website, is the ability to quickly change content when they desire.. so older articles that show them to have made mistakes, are simply re-written or edited...or even just deleted!
simple!
"nothing to see here...carry on".

Yep, the hall we used to go to had a big clean-up one day, and about 4 large boxes of society books were to be "thrown on the tip"
I protested and said "we were always told to "cherish our rich spiritual heritage", so we should keep these!
I was told by several elders that "we only need to keep the current 10 years worth of material"
Now, if that isn't re-writing history, and removing all awkward past material, then nothing is...

Let's compare, shall we
by LevelThePlayingField inif you did a news search on google news today, jan. 15, 2017 what would you find it you typed in "jehovah's witnesses"?
i did an analysis of news searches under the main christian religions in the us and this is what i found:.
if you click on google news and type in the following religions' names and then look at the news headline for each of the and description with out actually clicking on it, but just just what google provides for a clip or snipet of information and then click on the next page and the next page until you got to 5 pages down in the news for today (jan 15, 2017) this is what i found for those news mentioning anything about "sexual abuse" of any kind per religion.. mormon 0 and latter day saints 0. catholic 1. presbyterian 0. lutheran 0. methodist 0. episcopal 0. protestant 0. evangelical 0. unitarian 0. jehovah's witnesses 6. pretty interesting that the jw's get more about sexual abuse than any other major religion in the us isn't it?

Occupations that will disappear
by joker inwhile growing up in the cult one thing that always bothered me was the way witnesses could forecast jobs/occupations that we're going to vanish in their new world.. for example, we would usually discuss at saturday night wt studies how doctors, nurses, funeral directors, and soldiers would go the way of the dodo.
i always found discussions like that just so strange.. in hs, i mounted an unsuccessful effort to enter veterinary sciences, the big answer was always "why" it won't be needed after armageddon 😝😜.
does anyone have their own story about professions that the witnesses believe will not be needed after the big a ?.
-

Veterinary sciences wont be needed in the new world?? How silly of whoever told you that.
Animals wont be perfect, and of course would need qualified human assistance!
(That is of course assuming that the paradise is real)

The day after Armageddon
by Pronger1 injws are scattered across the globe.
a few million people left, pretty isolated from each other.. telephone lines and power goes down since the people who supported the infrastructure are dead.
communication across town, state, country, etc is cut off.

Now come on everyone!
What could possibly be more appealing than stepping over millions of dead corpses, INCLUDING BABIES and CHILDREN!!?? "Oh, look it is little billy from next door...I am so glad that evil 4 year old has been smited!"
You know, you cant have paradise without first piling up the dead bodies!

Beardless Jesus. Why?
by UnshackleTheChains inbeardless jesus in watchtower publications between 1930s and 1960s.
a simple detail 'deliberately' left out.
the question is why?.
-
stuckinarut2
This sums it up really well!
It shows how the society changed the portrayal of Jesus' facial hair over the years...

"Don't listen to apostates!!"
by Schnufti innext time a jw says that to me, i will ask him to read the following from "what does the bible really teach":.
watchtower itself uses this illustration.
so why is it that they throw apostates out of the congregation?.
