Brilliant observation!
Young ones like this who can discern such manipulation will be the downfall of the society...

Dutch conventions organized like circuits
by Gorbatchov inhere in holland jw.org is organizing for the first time the yearly conventions like circuits.
the whole summer the new convention hall is used for small group conventions instead of 10.000 seat external halls.. it keeps the money in the organization.
not renting external buildings.. the 29.000 witnesses here are divided now into 2.000 seat audience.. g..

Yes, Australia has been doing the same for the last few years.
I Guess The Netherlands needs to do this now to make use of its new Swifterbunt Assembly Hall that we were so wonderfully told about during the June JWbroadcast.....

No go field service days
by Steel init's canada day today and not just any canada day, it's canada's 150 birthday.
for some strange reason i was actually able to reason with my wife day and she agreed with me.
field service on a special day wouldn't be appropriate.

As a child, my father would insist we go out on all those "special days" as it was "a good time to find people home"
Also, I am sure that when people would get annoyed, it would play into the persecution complex that witnesses just LOVE
He would LOVE recounting the experience of a man who on christmas day got angry with us (me a 10 year old) and snapped at us : "Go away! Imagine coming and talking about the Bible on a day like today!"
The irony was funny I will admit!

Jehovah's Witnesses on BBC World Service radio
by jw news 2017 in© copyright bbc world service © copyright bbc heart and soul **" witness protectionheart and souljehovah’s witnesses follow a strict interpretation of the bible.
it is supposed to shape every facet of the lives of its 8 million followers around the world.its beliefs set it apart not only from non-believers and other christian faiths.but what has emerged in recent years is an alleged catalogue of sexual abuse that has gone unreported and unpunished due to this adherence to the literal word of god.david cook meets the survivors of years of abuse who say their claims were ignored because of the lack of two witnesses to the crime, a major law of the organisation which it says is enshrined in the bible.jehovah’s witnesses deny they shelter any abusers but he will hear how some alleged abusers were allowed to remain part of the organisation because of the lack of witnesses.he will also investigate how this insular worldwide community is responding to mounting pressure to turn over decades of testimonies which could expose thousands more cases of abuse... Convention invitations
by dothemath inso everyone is supposed to get all excited about the invitation work starting tomorrow, according to the announcement from the platform.. maybe this makes sense if you're giving out invitations in the city where the convention is, but what if you're many hours away?.
a huge part of western canada is scheduled to attend edmonton alberta this july.
so how does that go over giving out invitations in winnipeg, about a 13 hour drive(that's just driving time).. i know some are actually planning on flying there, so i can't see getting excited about getting the public to make the trek.. i was curious how this is going over in other areas?.

For the last couple of years in Australia, they have stopped hiring out large venues (20,000 seat capacity) .
Instead, they use the local assembly halls in each capital city and run the program for weeks and weeks in a row....
Saves money perhaps?

Last Memorial Experiences
by NoviceLocs14 ini'll share mine first.... i had never missed a memorial for at least a quarter of a century of my life.
i was kind of raised to believe that missing the memorial was a sin in itself.. by 2013 memorial season, i was missing most of my meetings (even though i was still technically part of my foreign language congregation), and i had just come off the pioneer list.
i still made plans to attend the memorial (god forbid if i missed that lol).. i knew that typically our memorials were around 9 pm, since we usually got last priority (being a foreign language hall and all).

Really, when we think about it, HOW did witnesses view those "submarine witnesses"? You know the disdainful opinion of those who "only surfaced once a year"!?
Why would a person choose to attend a function where you know most in attandance are looking down on you anyway?

Can JWs vote?
by NikL ini finally found the questions from readers i was looking for.. from nov 1, 1999 wt .
it says.... questions from readershow do jehovah’s witnesses view voting?there are clear principles set out in the bible that enable servants of god to take a proper view of this matter.
however, there appears to be no principle against the practice of voting itself.

As to the whole voting thing, as I was waking up, I realised that there was nothing wrong with going into the poling place. What I did on the ballot form was a different issue.
(voting is compulsory in Australia)
Different elders told me that "it would be a bad witness to the community and other JWs if they saw a witness going in to the polling place"
So it depends on the level of control the local body of elders employs....
