Well, IF the society is dispensing "Jehovah's Food", then Jehovah must be a lousy chef....

Spiritual Junk Food?
by stuckinarut2 inwe all know how the society likes to say that they alone "dispense spiritual food from jehovah" through the f&ds / gb.
the claim was that from russell's day, the society alone is gods channel.... so that got me thinking.... if they dispense spiritual food, yes spiritual nourishment to all witnesses, that clearly implies that all the past wrong teachings, and incorrect doctrines and practices must not have been "nourishing spiritual food" right?.
in effect, they were just like parents that order a fast food drive through "meal" to keep the kids happy and fill the hole in their tummy.. yes, rather than providing a well prepared and healthy nourishing meal, a quick-fix junk food fill was sufficient.

What does it take to qualify for cart/trolley work?
by Londo111 inif memory serves me, when it was first introduced elders had to fill out a form to grade a jw, and only those who made the grade could do the carts.. i didn’t realize until sir82 said something on another discussion that the process had changed.. what is the process nowadays?

Yes doubtfull! In what other world would someone take personal legal responsibility for work they were doing at the direction of head-office??
That made me have a WTH moment too! I questioned the local bros, and one has taken out a small policy under his name. So what happens if someone from the public trips on the cart on the day he is NOT there?

Before I officially left, I did the cart work several times....and yet I was a closet apostate for years before!
So, where was the Holy Spirit?

But now since 2013 of course the GB claim they have it right... but from what we see, they are simply ramping up the dispensing of junk food!?!

I met a 104 year old man today
by Bad_Wolf ini was at a mall trying on shoes and this old man is in a wheelchair near me.
says how he thought those shoes were sharp and he had never worn brown shoes before and that he is 104 years old.
i said no way and asked what year he was born.

You should have asked him what it was like when Russel's organisation was chosen to be Jehovah's spokesman?
After all, according to witness history, that was a monumental period in human history, so surely it would have been widely noticed?

Yes, in the early days of the cart work, it was EXCLUSIVELY the "privilege" of very "spiritual" ones.... Nowdays locally, we see even the "plodder" witness who never answers at meetings or who has messed up families, who get to do the cart work!

How does one cope with the sudden and unexpected loss of a parent?
by My Name is of No Consequence inmy dad died of a blood clot as a result of surgery late last year.
to say that his death created a bottomless void in our family is an understatement.
i think about him every day, sometimes constantly.

Much love to you and your family!❤️
Yes, remembering and speaking of your dad often is important. We can keep them alive in our memories and speech.
Dont try and stifle the waves of emotions either. As they come over you, ride with them rather than against them.
I agree that the realisation that this life is all we have is a daunting one for those of us inculcated with the fantasy of living forever. It takes time to retrain our minds to the fact that we need to enjoy each day.
Keep us informed. We are a genuine group here to help!

The point at which you think this may not be the truth
by LevelThePlayingField ini remember one of the nights that i found out the truth wasn't the truth, that is after finding out about the united nations, i remember riding my bicycle from like 1am till 5am in the city night.
it was rather chilly, maybe about 55-60 degrees and i was playing pink floyd's dark side of the moon album in my earbuds.
just riding and riding, not really tiring because of the thought that 7 men in brooklyn had duped me, duped me for like 20 plus years.

Brilliant thread!
Thanks for starting it, and thanks to everyone for your comments!
Yes, once we start down the rabbit-hole, there is no turning back. Once I learned one fact, then another, then another, I went through the stages of grief.
Denial, anger, etc....
Best quote that helped me: "Facts do not cease to exist just because they are ignored" Aldous Huxley
