Laziness of JW parents?
by stuckinarut2 init seems that many witness parents are simply taking the lazy option when it comes to raising their children.. by this i mean, they will happily outsource the education of their kids to the ready-made information on jwdotorg.. need to keep the toddler busy?
just stick him in front of a colourful caleb and sophia cartoon.
or lets play coloring-in on ready made pictures of bible characters getting killed.. need to manipulate the mind of your growing child?

Need to keep the toddler busy? Just stick him in front of a colourful Caleb and Sophia cartoon. Or lets play coloring-in on ready made pictures of bible characters getting killed.
Need to manipulate the mind of your growing child? Find a video on the site that handles that very topic, and rather than being an involved parent, just let the manipulative propaganda do the job for you.
Have teenagers? Well, there is a section on the site full of leading manipulative content there too! Is your teenager asking questions about the origins of animal life, great! There are videos that promote creation rather than science. Is your teenager curious about love and attraction? Fine! Here are some ready made videos and worksheets!
The modern Witness parent is "so thankful to Jehovah" for these provisions...but surley, it simply makes it easier for them to avoid actually guiding their own children. Just outsource it to the Society and let them do it all for you.
Rant over.

Facial hair and Witnesses
by Jules Saturn ini never understood why the society was against beards or goatees but completely okay with mustaches.
what's the difference?
facial hair is facial hair, whether it's above your lip or around your cheeks or under your chin.

By the way, my post on the last page (letter from the GB) was an attempt at satire.
Sorry if someone thought it was real and gave it a dislike. I was getting carried away with sarcasm.

My Father has brandished me with the "APOSTATE" word for talking about the BIBLE!
by stuckinarut2 inso after three years of fading, my elder father has never really asked why we have chosen to stop attending.. today, after a mixed discussion, he starts talking about the "solution to all the world problems" and says "i don't know what you now believe, but i believe gods kingdom will fix everything" i let the comment go, and didn't respond.. then he goes on about the video "remember the wife of lot" because he just came from the convention last weekend.
"don't get caught up in this system...blah blah".
i couldn't help myself, and said one thing "dad, that video failed to show the next chapter of that account.

Thanks everyone!
Yes, Honest, a few years back when the ARC occurred I raised that topic with my father in a calm way.
I also asked if he as an elder had ever had a case of child abuse occur in his flock. He replied "Yes".
So I calmly asked him if he or any of the other elders reported it to the authorities.
He got irate and said "It is not our place to do that!"
He then made a comment about my "negativity toward the Truth". So I guess he has been thinking of me as "apostate" for some time!

Good point Sparrow!
But, if those evil worldly homosexual corpses become fertilizer for food, is there a chance that the "ickyness and homo-ness" might infect the faithful through their food intake??

Once you've proved the truth to yourself you don't need to keep trying to disprove it...
by cognisonance ini was told this during my judicial committee (some five years ago) when i brought up concerns i had with the "truth.
" in addition one of the elders (who was an engineer) said once you've accepted a proof of pythagorus' theorem you don't later start doubting that theorem.
i thought that argument was a weak analogy then.

Great review Pale!
So accurate.
It Genuinely hurts my head to see witnesses not using an OUNCE of logical thinking skills to work this stuff out.

Thanks for your replies everyone!
So, one thing I did say as he was trying to shut down the conversation was :
"Dad, we have always been told that whenever we read the bible, we should ask ourselves 'what does this section teach me about Jehovah's personality?' isn't that right?"
His reply was "Well Jehovah could have omitted parts of the bible out if he wanted, but he didn't. Plus, Lot was not even aware that his daughters did that to him!"
I replied with the following: "What, Lot was the VICTIM? A 100 year old man manages to sustain an erection after drinking wine, doesn't know he is even having sex, and his virgin daughters manage to both conceive on their very first attempt at sex, and obviously they were both ovulating at the same time?? Sorry Dad, but I have trouble with this account for so many reasons"

Yes Anders!
I got that distinct impression. He just didn't want to hear anything except positive praise for the convention drama or the bible or the society. Anything that deviated from that is "apostasy" and "negativity"
