how have you all coped with facing the reality of our mortality?.
most of us were raised to firmly believe we would never get old or die... so here we are now having to face the reality that are getting older... we are going to die.. sometimes it really pisses me off that we were never helped to comprehend this most basic of facts.
we were given a utopian dream as a "fact", and hence never taught how to face our inevitable futures.... thoughts?.
I respect your right to believe in that The_Seeker, but I can't take those ideas seriously....
not long after i joined here i posted a reading list of books that helped me wake up, but since then i've read so many more that i've found invaluable in furthering and refining my new worldview, plus giving me a more in-depth well read perspective on theological and scientific issues.
so i thought i'd post an updated comprehensive list for other voracious readers like me who are always looking for good books to read.
how jesus became god - bart d. ehrman.
Oh my "god"! HOW did you read all those?? (Don't you have a job or life? hahaha just stirring!)
Thank you so much for the recommendations! I look forward to enhancing my knowledge further!
I was only thinking earlier today just how ignorant we were as witnesses. We THOUGHT we knew it all. We had answers to everything. We KNEW everything....
Yet, a genuinely humble person knows that we don't know everything...and there is much to learn. So these books will help expand our knowledge.
ok, i apologise in advance if this seems irreverent to those who believe in god.. but, the bible says that god (jehovah) impregnated mary.
without her consent.
so that would seem to be rape...right?.

Well said steve2!
Yes, the org is unashamedly promoting the new logo and videos.
BUT, this is a good thing. I have a great "worldly" friend who has been there for me throughout my awakening.
I have shown him all the videos etc of the society, and he has consistently been gob-smacked at just how "culty" and full of "propaganda" the stuff is! (His words - not mine)
So, the fact is, the more the "society" produces this stuff, the more it will scare people away from them....
two elders have been deleted by watchtower for reporting an allegation of child sexual abuse to the police, contrary to watchtower orders (a jw paedophile with a history, apparently).
when the british branch discovered what the elders had done they arranged for 3 elders to fly over to ireland, at the congregations expense no less, to hold a special jc for the ' rogue' congregation elders.
one elder and the cobe were deleted, two were allowed to continue.
"By their fruits you will know them"
How true.... The Society is showing that protection of the Organisation is more important than protection of children....
hello everyone, my wife wants nothing to do with my awakening.
every time i try explaining something she tells me she doesn't want to hear it.
i believe she's afraid of learning something she's not ready for.
Well said AnonVet!
Yes, making a new group of friends is so valuable.
Great suggestions!

Beautiful comments again everyone!

Yes, as Flipper wisely said, the value in life is enjoying EVERYTHING we can, each and EVERY day!
There is always something to appreciate if we look for it.
I am certainly thankful that we have all awoken before getting too old, and before we wasted too much of our lives.
I feel really sad for those who have spent their whole lives trapped both physically and emotionally in a fantasy-world of JW doctrine. So sad for them.

born in 1955 jacko was baptized at 13 years of age in 1968.his life story, printed in the august 2015 watchtower doesn't state the year in which he married, it's fairly general when talking about it.
hmmm, i wonder why?i've come across a recording of an interview with jacko at a hall dedication in another part of the us in 2009 which provides some further information.he married his first wife, jenny, in 1974 at the grand old age of 19. no wonder they didn't want to print it in the watchtower.unfortunately his first wife, jenny, was diagnosed with cancer in 1999.in 2003 jacko was sent a letter from the gb stating he was being transferred to hq and his wife would be given appropriate work.
he initially didn't know why they were being called to hq as he felt they were being very productive in their fijian paradise, he states that they brought 75 people into the truth.
Thanks for the post!
Yes, it confirms just how "human" and "normal" they are.
I bet most witnesses who revere the GB find it hard to reconcile the "humanness" of their "faithful and discreet slave"?
