She certainly sounds like she has allowed herself to let go of the FOG (Fear Obligation Guilt) of being a witness!

The Society doesn't sound like it has an emotional or physical hold over her anymore!

Changing verses in the new RNWT to suit an agenda

it's increasingly obvious to me that part of the reason for the "new" rnwt of 2013 is to increase the authority of the organisation and the gb.

yes, the old one was becoming dated but they have taken opportunities (liberties?

) with translation to increase their control.. an obvious one is micah 6 v 8 where "to cherish loyalty" has replaced "and to love kindness".

Am I correct in saying that the 'new' new world has had the expression "Governing Body" inserted somewhere??

I haven't seen it myself, but others have mentioned that?

If so, that is a sly and deliberate attempt to try and grasp credibility and power for the GB controlling JWs...

this is my first post to this site, im pale.emperor's brother:).

first of all, i've left being a jw in june.

since then my family have tried to convince me it's "the truth" and force me to go back even though it's my own decision.

ken cook was announced today at morning worship as the new member of the governing body.

i dont recall him from the broadcasts, but he was formally a helper on the writing committee as per https://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/governing-body/.

So, we have Bro "token" Herd (only black man)

The GB had an opportunity to appoint an Asian man, or a middle eastern man, for example, just to prove how "non-white / non racist" they are.

Or, it seems that Jehovah prefers White middle class males over 60 to speak through??

so we have all heard the worldwide reports about khalls being sold off and congregations being amalgamated etc.... of course, jws are being told that these actions are a sign of "just how much the work is progressing, and how jehovah is blessing the increase and expansion!".

i can share the following from my part of the world too!.

in perth, western australia the following has occurred.. three "new" congregations have been formed!

i was just pondering this passage of scripture:.

romans 8:35-39 (new world translation).

35 who will separate us from the love of the christ?+ will tribulation or distress or persecution or hunger or nakedness or danger or sword?+ 36 just as it is written: “for your sake we are being put to death all day long; we have been accounted as sheep for slaughtering.”+ 37 on the contrary, in all these things we are coming off completely victorious+ through the one who loved us.

Yes, I find it amazing that these ones who are so convinced that the ALMIGHTY CREATOR of the universe - someone with unlimited power, and who guarantees an unbreakable relationship with his individual worshippers - can so easily be threatened by the act of researching facts outside of the approved Society material!

So I can add.

When I was still an appointed man, my wife did a correspondence university course in addition to working her regular job. In fact the course was to assist he in her job.

I was told firmly that "because I was supporting her in her pursuit of higher education, my qualifications were to be called in for review by the CO"

That is in fact what happened.

We were not missing meetings. We were still active in the ministry.

BUT, It was all about "Pursuing Higher Education". Oh and one of the bully elders also added this classic line: "Only a bored housewife would consider university education"
