"if you are in desperate need of a drink of water, and the glass in front of you is 99% clean, but contains just 1% poison, would you drink it??".
how often we heard this trotted out from the platform.. recently though, i have heard many examples of still-in jws sharing their observations about things that don't seem quite right with the current activities, direction and culture of the organization.

Thanks for all the replies.
It is true that the illustration is flawed. It does indeed represent the narrow thinking of JW's. It is simple and inaccurate. With just a slight amount of critical thinking, it can indeed be debunked.
But, it is often used by THEM to illustrate that there should be NO tainting from "satanic or worldly" sources.
That's why it came to mind.
I am simply thinking that it may be helpful to use on JWs who try and justify the many "corrupting" elements that the Society is and has been involved with.

by nowwhat? inyep, taps out, throws in the towel, waves the white flag!
in today's watchtower it basically said don't expect any results due to widespread apathy and opposition.
but you can still bear fruit just by going through the motions of being regular in field service.

It's all about control, and keeping the flock busy!
Just like when you're on a long car trip with young children. In order to keep them from going crazy, we create games like "let's see who can count the most amount of yellow cars" or something inane like that.
It simply keeps them occupied and interested.
No different to the "spiritual activities" that the GB have the flock do.

lloyd pointed out something that had occurred to me as well:.
all this talk and examples of courage, whether it be standing up in class defending intelligent design, putting up with being imprisoned, not running away from bullies, always having a reply to someone who tries to ridicule your faith... the young ones are encourages - nay, commanded - to stand their ground and be courageous.

by stuckinarut2 injust curious.. when you started to wake up to the truth about the truth, did the shock and the whole experience distract you from your usual activities such as performing at your place of work?.
did you become so consumed by researching, and the subsequent factual discoveries, that it affected your ability to carry out daily tasks?.

Guidelines For Proper Uses For Sold Kingdom Halls
by Charles Gillette inhow does the watchtower dispose of kingdom halls no longer usable because of poor attendance and or merging with another kingdom hall.the rank and file contributed lots of money to keep it active.. then they tell us their not using it anymore.where does the money for that hall go.
and what they do with the money they get for the sale of that property.
they certainly don't give the rank and file anything.. and what use will the new owners use it for.
