i cant stop the nagging thoughts in relation to the hype about "100 years of kingdom rule" !.
what is the significance?
why make such a big deal about something like that?.
I cant stop the nagging thoughts in relation to the hype about "100 years of kingdom rule" !
What of it? What is the significance? Why make such a big deal about something like that?
I mean, according to JW teachings, 100 years is just a drop in the bucket of time - mans number anyway as calculated by "pagan" calenders anyway!
So what is the big deal about it?
It means nothing at all...(if indeed it is even the correct time remember....as their date calculations are wrong anyway)
additionally, birthday celebrations tend to give excessive importance to an individual, no doubt one reason why early christians shunned them.
(ecclesiastes 7:1) so you will find that jehovahs witnesses do not share in birthday festivities (the parties, singing, gift giving, and so forth).
school and jehovah's witnesses p.18.
yes EoM, the faulty reasoning on one subject, just opens the doors on so many other subjects!
The whole doctrine structure just falls apart when 'reasoning' is used.....
the only way i can sit through the meetings is due to having my tablet and connection to this forum!.
since awakening, i can't believe how much i cringe each and every meeting when i hear all the propaganda and garbage spewed out from the bible and the society!.
i only cope by venting on here.. (plus it is so easy when sitting at the back of the hall or on the sound control box... hahaha).
Hey GTTM it seems like you are 75% of the way there in order to get the family out!
You all see through the fakeness of the cong members, and if so, your wife sounds like she is a good critical thinker?
Just plant more seeds of doubt, plan more "family days out" during meeting times...and the fade will work itself out.....
i was baptized in 1968. last meeting 2010. i have to say i was never 100% in.
there were times i absolutely believed, but i never really gave it my all.
never liked service, assemblies, meetings.
Yes I was...100%
Raised in, and even though I knew we were different, I Really thought it was the truth, so anything strange was overlooked...
We were gods people you see....
Spent my whole life trapped...
Now im just 'stuckinarut' trying to break out as smoothly as possible....
i strive to understand things by standing in a different spot and looking again.
i like to recontextualize things everybody seems to accept automatically and comfortably.. why?
to be able to see it for the first time, again.. .
Hey phizzy, great quote!
"faith is beleiving what you know aint so!"
being pushed by religion since the 17th century.
my question is why ?.
Yes as steve2 said, everyone loves to beleive in fairy tales...it gives a chance for escapism and feels good....

Yes, the reasoning they use is ssssttttrrreeettttccchhhheeddddd beyond comprehension!
If the giving of "undue" attention is the point, then why do we know the names of the GB?? (they should be gloriously annonymous hey?)
Anyway, I just heard of a party thrown for little kids in the congregation (jumping castles, cakes, games etc...all fun). The Main cake came out with the name of the boy who's party it was!
So what is the difference between that and a birthday party!?
AND YES, why are anniversay milestone parties ok, eg 25th, 50th etc???
as the title says, please list what you find annoying with the organization..
ALL of the above!!!
Yes, the conceited veiw that they alone have the truth, and you cant question anything (even sincerley) without being labelled "apostate"...with all that comes with that title!
i just came back from vacation with my sister who is in her mid 40s and is an active jw, regular pioneer of many years.
while away, during one of our conversations, it bacame clear to me that my sister is lonely and doesn't have a social life.
she's too old to be included in the plans of the younger generation and, as she is not married, doesn't get included in the "marrieds" set.
I hear ya krejames!
We used to have what we thought was a really great circle of friends...until we "slowed down spiritually" to use the witness jargon.
Now those friends have all but dried up!
Im talking about very close ones...including ones we saw have their children, and babysat for etc!
Yes, unless one "listens obeys and gets blessed" by being a complete WT drone, doing more and more and "advancing spiritually", one gets cast aside pretty quickly!
It is called "CONDITIONAL FRIENDSHIP" conditional on a person being a GB worshipper!
