  Proverbs 4:18 "light gets brighter"

  we are all familiar with the classic use by the society of proverbs 4:18 about "light getting brighter".

  they say it applies to revealed truth, and doctrinal changes etc.. have you ever just read that chapter (and even the surrounding chapters) in full??.

  it has nothing to do with doctrinal changes or teachings.. it has to do with acquiring wisdom and life skills in order to live a successful life.

  Yes, If I am in a dark room and am holding a cat, as the light gets brighter or switches on, I am not suddenly holding a turtle!

  Since when does "new light" change the very teaching itself?

  And yet that is what the society has done over the years...

  at mine the conductor was somewhat awkward and minimal and there were nervous chuckles from the audience.

  two people, including an elder, gave reasonable comments that it's okay as long as it's not extreme styles, etc.

  but then another one of the elders commented that nothing has changed and they still aren't proper locally.

  That paragraph is one of the most insipid and pointless ever written!

  It says NOTHING! It contradicts itself!

  The "double -speak" and lack of clear "direction" means that each area of the world will have different bully elders imposing their own ideas...

  Seriously, as you have all said, since when did GOD get so hung up on men NOT growing the natural beard he created us with??

  The way the society focusses on such an issue sounds like the Scribes and Pharasees "adding to the law" and making "the word of God invalid by their traditions"!

  yes, i understand it's held to see if elders should go through with the disfellowshipping process.

  but why give them all the power?

  Yes, by saying something along the lines of "I would like my legal representative present for all meetings", they will cancel .

  They do not want any outsiders to witness the inappropriate proceedings that occur behind the "judicial" closed doors!

  In no other area of life is such conduct appropriate. 3 vs 1 and no recordings permitted, is simply wrong, wrong, wrong!

  It has to do with acquiring wisdom and life skills in order to live a successful life. It compares and contrasts a wicked person vs a good person.

  In fact vs 24-27 go directly against the way the society! It speaks of not being devious, or straying from the set path. It speaks of NOT inclining to the left or right! That direction to remain set in a straight path flys in the face of the continual "tacking" the society uses with regard to their doctrinal changes.

  Trump says stupid things when he goes off-script...that is, when he starts "winging it".

  His victory speech was CAREFUULY scripted by his team, and therefore was kind of decent and acceptable.

  On the other hand, his many, many rally and campaign speeches were often ad-libbed, and therefore full of stupidity.

  IF he stays on-script according to his advisors, then he will not look stupid.

  However, his ego will probably get the better of him....

  in the congregation bible study, the book addressed how "truth" is progressive.... 18 just as jehovah progressively revealed truths about the kingdom in the period leading up to 1914, he continues to do so during the time of the end.

  as chapters 4 and 5 of this book will show, over the past 100 years, god’s people have had to adjust their understanding on a number of occasions.

  does that fact mean that they do not have jehovah’s backing?

  is it possible that trump may play a part in the great tribulation?.

  there are some who believe trump is one of the most unqualified of men to ever be elected president of the united states.
