that's a comment i heard from an elder i haven't seen in over a decade, yesterday.
i mentioned it all on my other thread.
i responded that i knew of no one that was crawling back to the meetings and gave him an incredulous hearty chuckle.
Why people would want to crawl back into an abusive situation is beyond belief.
It is just the same as a domestic abuse situation. Once someone gets out, why would they want to go back? Only if they are so downtrodden that they think that is the "best I will ever deserve".

after being disgusted by the bs of the sunday meeting, i chatted with one inactive brother came back for that one meeting.
i can't exactly remember how it came up, but he told me and a sister whose a close friend of mine that she shouldn't be so uptight, we're no longer under the mosaic law.
So in two adjoining verses, the Mosaic law condemns Tattoos and Shaving a mans beard off. But of course, the Society only applies the Tattoo part...and completely disregards the Shaving off the beard part!

i disassociated myself 3 years ago but have never told my mother, as she lives quite a distance from me in the uk.
i've have told her that i no longer go to meetings, neither does my son, who is 16.. i haven't seen her for 3 1/2 years.
i offered to come visit this week but she was incredibly offhand with me and said she couldn't meet with me today as she was on the ministry!!

sorry to hear you are going through this. It's actions like this that confirm that they are in a high control cult like group....nothing else explains such terrible behaviour.
Stay strong, and don't allow that situation to dictate how you feel.
it occurred to me the other day...the society is loading us up on all types of ways to reach others....jw.org, all types of literature, all types of different ideas, maybe you could use the tools jehovah gave us this way or perhaps you can use it that way, maybe you can volunteer, maybe you can go where the need is greater, maybe you can give more $$$, maybe you can give more time, maybe you can look at how you can be in the ministry more, maybe you can meditate more, maybe you can do this or that for your family study, maybe you can talk to a seasoned witness & find out how they.....& i know there are tons of other things maybe we can do....or yes, forgot this one, maybe you can quit your job....then maybe you can get some rest, because you can't serve jehovah when you are tired.
how can you get more rest if, you don't have no money to live indoors...anyway, with all these maybe's we can do..... it came to my mind that the gb isn't here as of yet & it seems the org.
is pressing the friends for bible studies...they are saying....we are giving you all these tools & so why are you not getting bible studies or return visits...it's almost as if they are brow-beating us...do more because the society has given you more...it's not us, folks just ain't listening to us at the door any more....they are not even opening up the door.
It really doesn't matter how widespread that message goes or how many opportunities or avenues they use.
If the substance of the message is still based on ridiculousness, or past mistruths etc, people will see it for what it is.
It's no different to a multi national fast food company being located in every possible area on every street corner. Just because it's easy to get does not mean that the product is healthy for you
i attended a sunday meeting today after missing a couple due to a bout of chronic apathy.
out of 74 publishers we had a grand total of 33. wonderful.
for those that attend, how are you finding the numbers?.
Maybe ABeliever will also learn correct spelling and grammar in the new world?

Oh, and WHY does it fail to acknowledge the FACT that there were over 1006 UNREPORTED cases in Australia alone??
Why does it fail to mention the FACT that there have been multiple cases PROVEN in courts of law that required the society to pay out MILLIONS of dollars in penalties to victims?
Why does it fail to tell the "sheep" that their donated funds go to such causes?
Why have they not simply owned the FACT that they stuffed up over the years with the guidelines provided on how to handle these matters?
Why do they try and distract the "sheep"?

i bet most witnesses could not explain their blood policy, their understanding of the slave, and even simple biblical doctrines....they are an embarrassment to any old timer..
Oh and yes, just try reading the bible without any bias material from the society! It's amazing how many things become apparent. I was left feeling embarrassed as I recalled the way I used to defend the society....🙄😩

It really seemed to reach a crescendo around 2012 when the Zone Visit was broadcast worldwide, and the new bible was released.
Since then the online products have just become like junk food...temporarily filling, yet lacking in any real substance.
And don't get me started on the dumbing down of the songs and song book.....
their fundamental beliefs are much like jehovah's witnesses sans the paranoia, authoritarianism, stifling rules, and end-times enthusiasm.
you don't even have to become a bible student to be saved, you could be an idol worshipping heathen and still get resurrected in the milenium.
if i still believed in the divine inspiration of the scriptures, i would be a bible student.
If they still agree with all the wacky ideas about the pyramid measurements...then NO!
Why leave one wacky religion for another wacky one....
