I attended my 2nd exjw meetup and it was brilliant

i decided to attend my 2nd scottish exjw meetup and what a blast.

so many experiences.

it was incredibly engaging to actually meet people in the flesh and hearing their personal stories.. the damage the watchtower organisation causes to peoples lives is absolutely disgusting.

The information they have is more than just Date of Birth or Baptism date etc.

Those records show things like "sins / judicial reprovals / and elders reviews of one's 'spirituality' etc"

It contains a summary of the person's value if you like. And if the individual is deprived the opportunity to see those records, then that is what is disturbing! A person's character can be maligned in an inaccurate way, and yet they have no right of reply.

but i got the honest impression that they are so delusional they can bring on armageddon with all their talk and jehovah will have no choice but to act.

( not that i believe in armageddon anymore).

Classic "persecution complex" behaviour.

They revel in, and crave this in a paranoid manner, as it somehow gives credibility to their claims.

So, probably in their minds, the MORE they talk about it, the "realer" it becomes.

And Flipper you make a good point about "bible trained or God-given conscience".

YES! My conscience IS better than those. (we don't tolerate the horrific things of the bible)

I suppose I just used that expression to soften the comment.

But it would be better to simply say "My moral conscience prevents me....."

Detroit the movie on Netflix anybody seen it ?

a movie about the riots in the seventies in the city of detroit but especially with the reason for the riots and the attitude of police and how the nation treated people of colour.

and how they treated them and how the justice system failed them .. based on a true story.

i found it very confronting yet compelling to watch.. humans have a tendency to lump everybody together in the same basket ,however we are not all the same, their is good and bad in every race and culture whether they are black, white or brindle .. anybody seen it and like to comment ?.

The movie did well in portraying what the atmosphere and tensions of the time must have felt like.

she states that "when thomas and i first learnt that i was pregnant, we were both really shocked" she doesn't explain why they were both really shocked but it seems an odd reaction unless they were using the safest contraception invented or hadn't been told about the bird and the bees.two experiences that touched the heart of gb sanderson were as follows -.

in russia a jw was jailed for 6 months, the jailers did everything to try to undermine his faith, which included violence.

How is this for a simple, yet straight to the point response? To a sincere person, it may play on their mind and make them ask more questions. To a fully in indoctrinated pious JW, it stops them dead in their tracks and makes a point:

"Thanks, but my God-given Bible trained conscience doesn't allow me to associate, now that I know a multitude of disturbing facts"
