Sure, there are some things that may have been done differently, but we need to see it all as part of the wave of momentum that is crashing down on the Org.
Every bit of mainstream media coverage adds to the weight of evidence against the Society. Yes, they will spin it as "satanic propaganda" as do all high control cults. But shows like this will help stop new ones from joining, and will puts cracks into the facade for hundreds or thousands of still ins

Thanks for posting that update Doubtfull1799!
I saw the ABC news report about these other groups signing up, and then the reporter said "Conspiciously absent and yet to sign up is the Jehovah's Witnesses and uniting church"
The report went on to say that "those groups that dont sign up will have to explain themselves to the public...and it will expose them to a greater legal responsibility"

Oh wow...How the GB and the Society could learn from this response!
No victim blaming. No passing of the buck. Acknowledgement of failings, and an undertaking to do better. Appreciation for the ARCs efforts...

Conditioned responses: Have you been conditioned to feel judged, or guilt etc that has spilled over into your exjw life?
by Diogenesister inthis youtuber, an exjw and psychologist, may be familiar to some of the old guard.. i'm posting for newer members really.
yet still, despite being out some time, it was a shock for me to realise that some of the crippling guilt i have felt over so much of my life, even long after being awake, was due to the dominant "conditioned response" i felt as a believer - guilt.. guilt that i could never do enough.
guilt that i was responsible for the life of anyone i didn't preach to...anyone i may have stumbled, anything i did that wasn't caring for the needs of others.. even my job i choose to fit in with trying to expunge the guilt i felt at not meeting the needs of others.

Great thread!
Thanks for sharing this video and your thoughts.
It is so healthy to re-evaluate and analyse why we are who we are.

Ex-Jehovah's Witness Recovering Group 3 and This Site
by dubstepped ini don't remember seeing it ever really talked about here but the facebook group with the namesake of this post shut down at the end of march.
it was archived and they weren't clear as to when or if they would come back.
it seemed to come out of nowhere, and i know a lot of people were disappointed.

"Apostasy" is worse than...??
by stuckinarut2 init is funny to contemplate how ridiculous the act of shunning "apostates" who leave the org for conscientious reasons is.. so we have been rudely ignored and even abused by jws who :.
1) have been imprisoned recently for dishonest business practices and fraud worth millions of dollars.
2) have been bankrupt several times.

It is funny to contemplate how ridiculous the act of shunning "apostates" who leave the org for conscientious reasons is.
So we have been rudely ignored and even abused by JWs who :
1) Have been imprisoned recently for dishonest business practices and fraud worth millions of dollars
2) Have been bankrupt several times
3) Have cheated on their spouses, and neglected family responsibilities
4) Swear, get drunk and act like fools at events like sports games
I chuckle to myself really to see these ones act so self-righteously and shun ones like us because of slanderous gossip that they hear through the witness grapevine. They don't know why we all really left. Who knows what they have been told through gossip.
Yet, we never judged them, or ignored them when they acted in the ways outlined as above.

Are they clones?
by cookiemaster inanyone else notice this about jw public speakers.
they all seem like clones.
they have the same mannerisms, try to use the same style of speaking, similar jokes, etc.
-
stuckinarut2
Yes indeed.
Any of us that tried to break the mould, were quickly made to conform to a particular style.
A small amount of variation is possible- but it is limited.
Once we leave and listen to speakers in all other areas of life, the "Jw style" become so much more apparent
