Introducing myself
by Leopold theseconed ini have been introduced to this site by my new friends that are helping me navigate through the reality of waking up and finding out that i have been lied to my whole life.
i grew up in the truth and have given over thirty years to this organization and the few years i wasn’t there my mind was certainly trapped.
the more i think about it i am really not that surprised there was a lot along the way that should have woken me up but it took till recently.

Hidden Spaces
by mann377 inwell my son (he's pimi) came to me the other day and asked if i could make a bookcase with hidden spaces built into it.
i asked him what for?
he said that they were encouraged to start thinking of and preparing for persecution and hide literature.

Yes! I couldnt believe my ears when the Annual Meeting had a specific point about "keeping our spiritual food safely hidden"
How paranoid and manipulative! Fear mongering at its finest.
I mean, IF the ALMIGHTY is taking care of his people, surely he can hide some books too - right??

someone new would "come into the truth", and be so enthusiastic and keen, that we would all joke about "locking them up for the first 6 months because they would preach to everyone".
jws thought that the passion for "learning the truth" was the issue.

JWs thought that the passion for "learning the Truth" was the issue. But really what they have just described could be true of any person who discovers something new and is bubbling with excitement.
What about us here who have learned "The truth about The Truth"? No doubt we can fall into the same trap and be so keen to share the facts we have learned with EVERYONE JW we know. We may fall into the pattern of bubbling things to all we know.
But, as most of us know, it can have the very opposite effect! Saying too much too quickly can actually do more harm than good. It can cause a rebound effect in those we speak to, and can make them fear us as "mentally diseased Apostates".
So take your time. Drop small and well thought out points or topics, and leave the seeds to germinate with them.
Try not to be so keen that they "want to lock us up"

Awake magazine: "Help for those who grieve" ?? Appalling omission!

wtf?.
it really is appalling in its glaring omission of any recommendation to see a professional grief counselor!

It really is appalling in its glaring omission of any recommendation to see a professional Grief Counselor!
They list 12 points...BUT nowhere in the whole magazine is there any direction to seek trained help.
This is just an awful insight into the insular world of JWs who are trained to not trust any outside help...which sets them up for serious life problems...

It just shows how they are missing the very point of showing LOVE to one another as a brotherhood!
SURELY if it was "god's organization", then congregation picnics can do nothing but good!
The overbearing and burdensome micro-managing is so very Pharasaical!
"They make the word of God invalid by their tradtitons (and rules)"

Active JW's - Does None of This Bother You?
by The Fall Guy inthanks to atlantis and his sources, we are able to examine material from the alleged "faithful slave" which is intended only for the eyes of the shepherds wolves in the congregation.. information needed for visit of circuit overseer .
all congregation accounts records covering the period since the last visit, which would include any bankbook being used and the records for any additional accounts being kept by the congregation.
(do you have excess money which should have been given to us?).

"Do not make for yourself an image of God ..."
by stuckinarut2 ina thought struck me regarding the biblical directive found in a few places including exodus 20:4.
"do not make a likeness of god in the form of any creature that is on the earth or heavens ".
it would seem disrespectful to use "dirty" creatures to describe perfect beings?.

It was also pointed out to me by one of our forum members that the very Ark of the Covenant had carved images of angelic creatures on it!
This is in direct contradiction of the very same Mosaic law that the ark itself carried!

"Straining the gnat, and gulping the camel"
by stuckinarut2 inwhile watching the annual meeting videos on the official jw channel, i was struck with this scriptural expression:.
"they strain out the gnat, while gulping the camel" matt 23:24. this section was full of condemnation for the wicked religious leaders who were focusing on minor silly things rather than deep important topics.. the amount of silly things the gb focuses on is amazing!
they pedantically focus on things like proper pronunciation of words, (such as s lett joking about how isiah is best said), while missing major issues and topics like the proper handling of child abuse issues, or the court cases being lost worldwide!.
